C: I dont see it. I see Mail, Yahoo, (goes on to read everything....)
T: No Mrs. X. Close all your programs and go back to your desktop.
C: I did. Thats what I see.

C: Do I right click or left click?

This phone conversation went on for about half an hour. I finally got her to install team viewer. Then I asked her what it said her ID was and PASSWD. She then started reading everything to me on the blue box.

Finally I was able to log in to her computer. I had to keep reminding her to leave her mouse alone. She kept grabbing control from me.
C: Im sorry. Go ahead... But let just show you this....
T: Im sorry, Just let me check something. Please dont touch your mouse.

Ended up being a onsite service call and reset their AT&T router.

This was a rough one indeed. :)

I so appreciate my territory being small. So easy to stop by and keep nodding my head yes and while I go clickety, click, click. "All done Mrs. X and nice talking to you too. I'll send you a note in email with the invoice. Bye!" ...and she's still talking............

Its just that she would read EVERYTHING on the screen to me. I had a hard time getting her to stop. LOL...

I think my patience is getting less as I get older. I know it kinda shows in the forums I belong too. So, I have to be very careful as emotions do not translate well online in these forums ;)

I find my frustration level is at its peak when working remotely (just as you described), but when I'm local and at a residence/business even I'm surprised at how easy going and patient I am. Hmmm....... Explains why I do a bit more on-site than most I suppose.

So true. Onsite, just ask the EU to step aside. Really hard to do that remotely. LOL!!!

Customer calls and leaves VM: Hey TCG my computer is freaking out it I think I have a virus I was reading facebook and all of the sudden I got a pop-up that I need to call Microsoft so I called them and they told me I need to pay $600 for a 19 year support plan or all of my banking will be taken I wasn't sure what to do so I let them in my computer and then I started getting a little scared about what was happening so I said I'd call them back. Actually come to think of it I didn't have any of these issues until you looked at it 8 months ago since then it's been running slower than it was before, and now I'm getting a lot of spam email, actually I think my iPad is running slower since you looked at my PC. I think someone is inside my wireless because of that new krack thing or I'm not really sure I only know enough to be dangerous.

Anyways call me back ASAP this is really important.

I call them back: Hey Judy how are you? Good ... Good ...

This was a rough one indeed.
All very familiar.

Especially this.

You know that you can disable remote input in TeamViewer (top menu, Actions->disable remote input)? I only use it as a last resort – it feels a bit like bullying, or tying them up in the corner!:D

THIS. Oh my holy freaking assclown, THIS! This is the #1 feature that I like about Teamviewer when dealing with old people. Old people seem incapable of following simple instructions, and their brains work so slow it makes me want to shoot myself. If they complain that their mouse isn't working, I tell them it's not possible to use their mouse when I'm remoted in. Shuts them right up and lets me get the work done. Most of my clients are 40 - 60, but it's usually the 70+ clients that are like this thankfully.

I'm not quite familiar with TeamViewer but the remote control connection software should have a feature to disable local input, to prevent dual control, does it not have that?

Ill have to try the remote lock out feature next time.

I see teamviewer changed their pricing plan to a monthly payment. Man, The software is good but the pricing is soooo expensive. If anyone can come up with a decent replacement for less they would make some good money.

The "Disable Remote Input" feature in Teamviewer works well, but be careful using it as some clients get a little upset that they have no control over their computer. I have to be very diplomatic and explain that I need to disable it for "security reasons" which they seem fine with.

Yeah Teamviewer has moved to a monthly plan, (I still pay annually) but it still works out cheaper than what I was paying before.
Can't discuss pricing here.;)
