This is what I said elsewhere regarding this article:

These stories usually come to light by a single person doing this for YouTube views (previously they have done "iPhone smash" videos). The trash magazines then pick this up and have headlines like "USERS SMASHING THEIR IPHONES!". It happens with every single release.

Also, the source is The Sun and its a well known as a trash mag in the UK. Hell, its even got titties on page 3 of every print issue.

I doubt they verified any of the cases either. This is the internet, and its Youtube. "Trolls trolling trolls" isn't even a sufficient description of it anymore, its many more levels deep, and the "news" outlets often just take it at face value since the headline will get clicks.

These videos are often cooked up by ad agencies to generate clicks that can be shown ads. More shocking = more clicks = more ads = bigger revenue.
The fact that "tabloid" newspapers and magazines pick them up and run with them is for exactly the same reason.
Good news doesn't sell newspapers.

Ironically, anyone stupid enough to do this is probably also an avid Sun reader.
