It could be worse . . I guess.

So in another area of my life, my wife and I are both Realtors. Had a buyer hot to see a home on Saturday morning, so we arranged to meet there. As I pulled up I noticed this parked two houses down from my showing:

No one said a word, not me, not the buyers.

But an offer was not made that day.

Because seeing an official vehicle parked on the street magically hurts property values? WTF? There are at least three cops that live in my neighborhood, and their cars all but live on the street. But what do I care? I live in the safest place in the US, one of the safest places in the world... Anyone that gets worked up over a cop car doesn't deserve a house.

Yes, every official vehicle diminishes home values. Particularly gas meter readers. They're the worst. /sarc

When it comes to Real Estate, ANYTHING can throw a buyer off their game. And of course I'm viewing this with a bit of humor, but surely you're trolling, rather than actually being blind to the difference between a confidence inspiring straight forward police car versus a vehicle that inspires visions of a horrific bloody murder that recently occurred just steps from the home you're considering buying.

And this is Albuquerque. Our reputation is not one of crime-free security and safety. There's a reason so many COPS episodes were filmed here.

It rains in Albuquerque!!

Yes! Twice a year for 3 minutes. You're lucky I caught it on camera.

But really, we have a "monsoon season" where we might pickup a few inches of rain in July-August-ish, and the entire rest of the year is very dry.

Unless you enjoy rainy weeks, it's really just about the perfect climate here. Rarely very cold, rarely very hot (compared to AZ for example), just really nice almost every day of the year.

Move here from cold rainy Ireland and buy a home from me!

Yeah, but I'm the sort of person that tells people to put on their big boy pants and get over it. I was raised military, every human is the most dangerous thing I can possibly encounter. So when I see law enforcement out and about, I don't see problems, I see the city working as intended. NM has a crime problem, so does every where else that's got poor people. It's just a fact of life. And, as long as we've been here it's a pretty safe bet that every street, everywhere, has had someone killed on it at some time. Call me a pessimist, but such things just don't bug me.

Heck here in my crazy safe city and home, the house next door was a rental and had drug dealers living in it for awhile... seriously, best neighbors EVER! Kept their yard clean, stayed quiet, did everything to avoid attention. I actually caught one during a deal once, and just walked away. He came to find me later because he was confused I didn't call the cops. And I just told him what I'm telling you. No one was getting shot, so I didn't care. They moved not too long after that, but still. People get way too worked up over these things.
