[TIP] Is Now a Good Time to Buy a New NVIDIA or AMD Graphics Card?

No, it is not.
lol, I was about to come in and post a "Anti-Click Bait" title.

It is of course, one of the worst times ever to need to buy a graphics card. Mine is artifacting during games, with the fan getting loud as hell. I just replaced the thermal paste and dusted the card out. Still not great and I'll probably have to grease the fans, but I'll be damned if I spend 170% of MSRP on a new card.

The bottom of the article finally tellls you it is not time. User has to read all the way down to actually figure it is NOT the time to buy. lol

My gtx970 still going strong. Boy, was that a good choice of card. Waiting for the next gen cards before upgrading, myself.

Bought myself a 1050Ti for Christmas. Should have asked the price before purchasing!
It would have made me think that maybe a 110% increase from just 3 weeks before was not worth it!

Oh your going to be mad :D

I have left 4/12 1050Ti's I got for $149/ea, 3/10 1060's for $229/ea, 3/8 1070's for $329/ea left. And the only 2 1080's I got for $459/ea are in mine and my wife's machines. Yes, I am making a killing @ 2-3 times the cost depending. Sold 1 1050 on Monday for $350 and yesterday a 1070 for $800.

Of course these were all bought last November. I am tempted to hold onto the remaining in hopes the price rises a bit more.

It's Australia! I'm used to paying with cash and body parts for stuff you guys get for almost nothing!

I need to check what a customer has in a ludicrously overpowered system he got from his brother. It's some level of Quadro in an HP Z820 workstation, and it's sitting on the floor unplugged because there's nothing it's needed for.

Depending on what it is, between card prices and NVidia's licensing changes to bar datacenter usage of GeForce cards that card may be worth more than the rest of the 128GB Xeon-based system put together.

Wish I would have stocked up on more graphics cards. I mean, graphics cards aren't a staple item like RAM and SSD's, but at these prices I could've made a killing just flipping them on eBay.

I bought my Asus GTX 1050ti OC just after xmas and it cost me $239, and prices were stable for a few months before. Price now is $279 from the same supplier. I should have bought a few..

Hm. I really need to check whether the workstation sitting downstairs has a Quadro K600 or a Quadro K6000 in it.

Fortunately it's an easy check: is it 2 slots?

Where did you get yours? I got one just before Christmas. The price went from $279 to almost $500!

I got my 1080ti a couple weeks ago, it was painful but I couldn't handle how slow the R9 270x was. Prices aren't going to get any better anytime soon
