iphone/ipad repair tech "ICracked"

My friends AJ and Anthony stated icracked a few years back. They're great guys and the company is rapidly expanding. I haven't spoken with them in a few weeks but if you have any questions I may know the answers, as I spent a decent amount of time in an incubator with them.

My experiences with them have not been so hot. I am sure it depends on who is running the show in the different locations, but basically, we get customers that come in after using iCracked and their phone was very obviously put together wrong and often times with more issues than the phone originally had? iCrack's answer? We are not responsible for any damages that we cause while installing your screen. I wont lie, we have botched phones before and we have literally bought and overnighted brand new ones for our customers. I just am not impressed with the overall level of quality nor was I impress with their lack of customer service or their policy on negligence. I am sure that the guys who started this business are great guys, but they need to tighten up on their satellite companies/service providers.

@PCX..Appreciate it. But, ya it probably is based on location. I can't believe the policy across the board for iCrack techs is to not be responsible for things that they damage.

Even tho it's not classified as a franchise it pretty much operates the same. So like any franchise or other industry for that matter you are going to have the 1% that has no clue...

Myself I'm looking at it more for the benefits of going that route.

We make good money, at this point in time, replacing the glass on idevices. I still refuse to put any effort into building this part of our operation, because it's an offering that could be wiped away literally overnight. I'm shocked when I see someone open a Brick and Mortar that's mostly focused on I-Device repair. I hope they get it while the getting is good...

i agree, it's just not something I enjoy doing. I guess it's not for everyone lol. I agree though hopefully they make the money while it's going well.

Looks pretty interesting:

Not sure how they are doing it without it being called a franchise.

The ones I contacted here in Dallas area weren't very professional. Answered the phone with "hello" instead of business greeting. Sounded like some kid answering his personal phone. Didn't have parts available either.

Business that grows this rapidly without any structure will crash and burn.

Well I hope you don't base your business on computer repair since that part of business in process of crash and burn.

While its going well? I just singed up a school district with 50,000 iPads and I have two more school ISDs in the way. Every school district in my area and thousands of businesses are going the way of tablets. I don't think it is going anywhere any time soon...lol

You kinda missed the point. When tablets cost 100 dollars, there won't be money to be made by a service professional replacing the screens. Also, I.T. consulting for SMBs is very much alive and well.

Lastly, congrats on the new deal! I live in the 9th largest city in the United States, and the largest school district here has 37,000 students. I can't imagine what a district with 50,000 ipads would look like. What services will you be providing for them?

There will always be tablets that cost $100 and also tablets that cost $1000. I do hardware repair and glass replacements for them. They break like any other computer. I am in DFW area and this is just one city in the area with bunch of schools. There are a lot more schools in this area that are slowly converting to tablets from books.
