What is with Internet Explorer 7? It has so many security features. All I get are information bars, certificate validation windows. I've enabled everything and I still am getting all these roadblocks. It even opened the Chinese page instead of the English page on Etrade. What am I missing?

I hate to be the odd man out, but I love IE 7. I am using it right now. The majority of PC users still use IE and if they go Vista I think they will be using IE 7 right out of the box. Many of the XP SP 3 boxes I am working on use IE 7 so we have to use it. Going to FireFox is nice but its not what your clients will want to do, especially corporate clients. Some banking or stock market websites will actually demand you use IE to do all their functions properly.

Learn to tweak IE 7 and you will enjoy it.

As a person who occasionally builds websites, I HATE IE. Why can't they just follow standards? That's what they're there for. The fact that I have to code around a poorly designed browser pisses me off.

In UI terms IE7 is much closer to Firefox than it is to IE6. I've never had a user complain about the differences. It's just as easy to use. It takes them about 5 minutes to get used to it.

I used to loathe Firefox but with Firefox 3 I havent looked back. So many cool features, it leaves IE for dead.. :)

I agree with you NYJImbo. I use IE7 on all my computers. I have Firefox also installed but generally use IE.

Why some of you may ask, well IE works with all websites and the majority of my clients use IE. If I get them to switch it would cause more problems that it solves (ie problems, with the their bank or some other IE specific website).

I agree.

I agree but... Only once have I had a client tell me that their experience with Firefox wasn't great. And that is because the legal website she uses doesn't print correctly in Firefox because everything is set up for Internet Explorer. Everyone else loves it.

I install the latest version of Firefox on almost every computer that I touch. I set it to the default browser and import the user's IE settings. They have no complaints. Yes, I am striving to increase FF's market share!

Figured it out

The reason I was getting so many certificate errors was that my time and date were wrong. The date was set at July 25, 2001. Makes a big difference. Thanks for the help.

Glad you figured it out. I use Firefox but my wife and daughter have IE 7 on their laptops w/ no problems to date. Also NYJImbo is right. The majority of my customers will not stray from IE so even though I am really not an IE fan it is a necessary evil.
