I got WiMax installed today, but the modem that the guy was going to install is not working so he's got me using a ClearWire usb modem temporarily 'till another modem comes in.

I've never used the Internet connection sharing feature in Windows, but I may have an opportunity to try it out now, or learn something new here. If I connected to the wi-fi on my e3000 router, could I bridge that to the ClearWire modem connection on the computer, if I connected a cable from a switch port to the computer with the Internet connection?

What about just installing a Wireless G PCI card into the computer and using that as the access point (in adhoc mode maybe), for others to connect to the Internet?

Yes you can use the "bridge" function..we've done that with emergency setups on a network with standard router, and a 3G or 4G USB dongle or MiFi device was brought in to give temporary internet.

Or can swap out the modem and use the standard ICS (internet connection sharinG) that Windows has has since the Win98 days...but you're better off just bridging and keeping the existing router.

Either way...ain't a ball of fire..but it gets the job done.

I would also recommend the bridge option (select the two connections, and right click to bridge, fairly simple).

Used it to get an Ethernet-only IP Phone connected via a laptop (which had WiFi).
