A client of mine asked for in ceiling speakers throughout their waiting room. (Doctors office)

This isn’t my expertise, although I know how to set them all up does anyone have any recommendations for decent sound quality with future expansion for additional speakers as well as zones.

I’d prefer WiFi speakers but if I have to run cable to an amp I will. Couple hundred dollar budget (3-400). Waiting area Space is about 25x 15ft.

for the most part they will be streaming music from pandora.

Thank fam XD

I know nothing about this either but after some Googling, I see Amazon has viable Bluetooth options starting at about $200. If you can complete the job in an hour and make $200 go for it.

It is the labor that will burn you if you need to go wired. If it is a dropped ceiling you can easily meet their budget but this will cut into your profit. I saw speaker bridges that replace the ceiling tiles so it is real easy and fast to attach wireless or wired speakers. If it isn't do you have access from above? If not, and you need to pull cables you will need to charge more.

Sonos are pretty solid for wireless speaker systems. Good sound quality and really easy to use. Integrates with all the main music steaming services.

Unfortunately they aren't the cheapest. You might struggle on that budget as I'd probably want two of them for that room.

An in-ceiling speaker that requires power won't work since you can't have the outlet or power cable above the drop ceiling.

You can get a Sonos One (GEN 2) with a wall mount for less than $350.00 and it'll cover a 15ft x 25ft area just fine.

Or

You can get a pair of Sonos Play:1 speaker's with mounts for about $375.

I like the sonos speakers. Unlimited zones. Work well over wireless. Can do Bluetooth or over WiFi. And ran off of their Time card iPad or any PC on the network.

but I was hoping I wouldn’t have to run any electrical wires (speaker cable is one thing) but electrical cables are another ball game because of permits and what not. Granted I can always ask them if they even want to do permits to install the power outlets. If not that’s no problem.

Otherwise. I can outsource to an electrician but that gets pricey!

To clarify things the budget is very loose (more or less is completely okay) and I was only taking into account material (my cost).

You're going to have to run wires, because the things need power. So I've never understood the idea of a "wireless" speaker. They're either powered by the 12v running over the speaker wire, or PoE... but they've got to get power from somewhere.

I'm not sure how picky they are out in New Jersey, but the cities around me don't care about low voltage gear much. Granted, I'd outsource this just because I don't want to deal with it. But installing speakers in the ceiling and attaching them to an audio device? You don't need permits for that.

Now high voltage? That needs permits... but in general in the US anything below 50W of power consumption doesn't need a permit.
