Check this out. This is happening more and more.

This guy on craigslist posts ads completely bashing other company's. Basically trying to scare people in to using him. Hes really pissin me off. He does not advertise anywhere other then craigslist and from the research I have done he's not even local like he claims to be. His website looks like it was built by a 5 year old and he claims to be the only professional company in town.

Heres the link:

I am getting so sick of people bashing other company's as a form of marketing. There are a few techs in my area that are complete jack wagons but you don't see me going around bad mouthing them. I let my service do the talking when it comes to a customer deciding who to use. However, someone like this pizza tech moves in and starts making everyone look bad by making accusations in his ads.

Any way rant over, thanks for listening.

Actually, it reads like he's bashing "techs" who advertise on Craiglist ... which, I believe, would include himself.

Very true. However, I advertise on craigslist. Not because I get a lot of work from it but I am hoping it helps my SEO.

Honestly the only reason I advertise on craigslist is because of SEO. I have gotten a few jobs from it but mostly just low ballers that don't want to spend any money at all.

The funny part is we all know what California license consists of. He is making it sound like a license from Bear is so hard to get. You don't even need to know what a computer is to get that license. You just give them your name address and $75 and you licensed, lol. and he's making it sound like a contractors license. The only prerequisite is you can write your name and fill out a check.

wow ... didnt relize my speakers were turned up all the way... almost had an accident. wtf is with that website?

lol, I didn't even know there was sound. I was looking at the website in Firefox on Linux and the site looks all messed up. Maybe I should look at it In IE on Windows.

i "flagged" his ad........ LOL :D :D

advertises "FREE Loaner", and in he fine print below "subject to availability and may require a deposit". sorry but i have NEVER loaned anything out without a deposit.

his actual web site here luvyourpc.com/ (click on the pic),,,, half the links on the page are dead

I just got a notebook that I am going to use as a loaner. Its a 3.06Ghz P4. I need to replace the screen and it will be ready. I got it for free and the screen will be at the most $100. I don't plan on requiring a deposit on it. However, I don't plan to offer it to everyone but when I do offer it I will not require a deposit. The way I figure it is it was a pile of junk when I got it and I fixed it up and got it running great. If I get some miles out of it as a loaner it will just make my business look better. When its finally dead I will part it out and still make money off of it, :D

I looked at his ad and his site too... as much as I hate to say, he has every right to say what he does, just like you and me.
He does have a Valid State License, as is required in California.
The state does not require any certification or education to get a license either.

A California Computer Repair Business should File a DBA with the County Recorder and Get a State License too.
After that it comes down to ethics of business and advertising with regard to how and what owners consider acceptable.
In my humble opinion... Let this Inspire Us to Work at a Higher Level of Ethics.

BTW, we are also a State Licensed Business and Certified Techs as well.

So, I think I can see both sides of the issue.

I can't see that he will last too long with a bad attitude and that really really awful website! I mean that is horrible! Half of it doesn't even work; and he's going to fix my computer?

that sound is AWFUL...I thought you guys were just kidding around so I turned my speakers up real loud and than went to the site and it scared the hell out of me hahaha.

Side note: The type of customers this guy attracts are the type of customers I stay away from. Yeah the type that dont value your work.

Yes I totally agree. The thing that gets me bent is his form of scare tactics. He does not even lest what he does on his ads he just slams other techs. I find this form of advertising to much like political campaigns. No politician ever says why we should vote for them they just tell us why not to vote for the other guy.
