My favorite monitor that I use and purchase used for resale is the Dell Ultrasharps... prefer the models 2407/2408 which have a resolution of 1920x1200 and can be found at a decent price, if you keep your eyes open for them as I have paid as little as $80 for one.
I have a dual monitor setup on my personal computer... a Gateway 24" pared with a 32" TV that has been working out just fine... until the other day when I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 3007 (Dell 30" - resolution 2560x1600). I took the Gateway off my desk and sold it to a client and picked up the 3007.
I learned something from this experience, if you want to be able to reach the suggested resolution of 2560x1600 you need a dual-link dvi cable not a single-link or you'll be looking at 1280x800 resolution. I've never run across this before as the max resolution that I've worked with has been 1920x1200. This specific monitor only has a DVI connector, no display port or hdmi port. I ended up driving over to our local Frys for a $15 dual-link dvi cable. Since the monitor only cost me $250, I still made out OK.
Now my problem is: I want to replace the TV screen with a 3008 model
So, what are your favorite makes and models that you stand behind?
