Hi guys,

Looking at both Quickbooks Online Essentials and RepairShopr. Question is likely aimed at people who actually use RS.

If I pay for the $50/mo offering, do I need Quickbooks? As I understand it, it takes care of client database, tickets, invoicing, even recurring billing. Revenue and expense tracking is taken care of as well?

But I also notice they offer integration with QB. What features would QB have that I might need that RepairShopr doesn't?

Thanks in advance. :)

Depends on how deeply you are tracking your expenses I suppose. RS is good for invoicing and ticketing but doesn't cover expanse tracking with the exception of the parts ordering in their system.

What if you need to buy new tools or office supplies that wont be worked into an invoice? There really isnt an option for that. It is pretty much only tracking parts ordered for customers.

I was looking into this too

I'm looking to start off with just repairshopr then maybe get a copy of quickbooks for more advanced accounting

I use Quickbooks Premier 2014 along with the Payroll module and mobile app for invoicing/estimates on the road. I really like the program. I recommend it.

Ditto.

Well, I have the accountant's version (Pro Advisor), but I use Premier within it for my own stuff.

Works great!

We do recommend you still have an accounting system, but if you are just getting setup - I would HIGHLY recommend not even using an integration.

Have your bookkeeper spend just 45 seconds each month making a single journal entry in your accounting system for the revenue for the month.

You can then get accurate 'accounting numbers' out of the QB/Xero/Wave/etc - with minimal worry/work/reconciliation - and get the detailed stuff in RepairShopr.

Lots more reports coming, let us know in our feedback site if you want to suggest more reports.

As far as the integrations to accounting in RS go;
  • Quickbooks Online works the best at the moment
  • Quickbooks desktop is tough - but works
  • Xero will be coming any week now, and will the best by far when it's released

pretty much what i do. I have the free repairshpr right now because im just getting started business wise but it is more then capable of tracking what i need it to track. I keep a running tally of expense and payments in wave at the same time. i have it manually setup so invoice numbers match and everything.

would love to see some wave integration in the future though so i don't necessarily have to switch to quickbooks .

We have been using QuickBooks for 19 years with payroll module. Currently on QB Pro 2013 5 user.. I would change if I could find something that would do inventory control better. It is an enormous pain to use QB for inventory.

Plus, it has a 14,500 record limit.. When you reach that.. you cannot add any more customers. We started over in 2011 and we are already up to 11,000 records.. So, we will have to compress or start it as a new company or get QuickBooks Enterprise (which is a real fun time.. I have two customers on that with 25 users... ) Or... something else?

Anything that would integrate with QB.. I have only been looking for ten years.. I have tried 3 or 4 things and they all were useless..

I used to have a DOS based quote system that I could toggle, tap a quote out in about 60 seconds... I guess I needs to hire some talent sometimes...

I'm looking at repairshopr + quickbooks online integration. Will cost me 37£ a month for both. Although I shouldn't have to duplicate input and u can link it to my bank account to link payments to invoices in theory
