Well I went and did it and am now an iCracked Certified/Licensed Technician...Did the online form, call interview, more questions online and video and then a background check. The only thing they did not do is blood work..haha

Just started but overall I am pretty pleased with their whole operation and the way they are going about things....

Got my site setup: www.iShatteredVa.com (you can have your own site just need to specify that you are an iCracked tech).
Got my facebook page setup: www.facebook.com/ishatteredva

Filled out my form for Yelp (they handle that) and I will be doing my Google one thru them also.

They gave me a phone number to advertise and it rolls over to my iphone for msgs and text's. I also have an app on my iPhone that shows me "dispatches" that come thru the system for my area (within 50 miles)....14 have come in within the last 24 hours and they all come from the www.icracked.com website.

Got a few questions:

Is pricing fixed or do you determine the price for your area?

How much do the parts cost you?

Do you have to use their parts?

I imagine they do require you to use their parts, so do they start you out with some stock?

Finally, are you still able to do repairs in your own business name or is their a no compete clause?

@Pc Fixed Right…Now idea why they would do that. I do know they have different rules and things and unless there are already iTechs there or something like that not sure. I'd be happy to check into it for you if you'd like.

@PCX…You can charge whatever you want.
Part prices vary there are tons of parts. The part prices are a bit higher for some and the same for others compared to other places that sell parts. But, the reason for that is also because they are doing advertising for you, videos, tech support etc.

Yes you have to use their parts otherwise you could not offer the 99 year warranty.

They have a basic kit you can start with or something like a pro kit with more things in it.

Yes, you can do business in your own name just like I am with iShatteredVa.com

Yes there is a no compete clause, but like all contracts not at all concerned with that.

Do you have to travel to these customers or can they come to your shop? Certain repairs like iPads I would rather do in a relatively clean environment. Besides, I cannot imagine that there is enough money in it to travel.

You can do whatever you want. I know a ton of the guys travel or meet somewhere and do it. I'll prob do it in the shop till I know how long each one takes etc before I travel.

But, if the right amount come in then I have no problem making a route out of it and hitting one after another.

Can you talk more about the investment part. How much did you spend? Any monthly cost? Do they provide training video's?
Let say you have to replace a screen and the client is located 50 miles. Approx 1 hr to get there, 30 mins to fix, another hr to get back. How much are you expecting to make in 2 1/2 hr of you time minus the expense?

Thanks

For investment you are probably looking at anywhere from $500 to 1K in equipment.

Only monthly cost is what you spend if you want more parts.

Yes, training videos, great portal with other members and a personal tech rep to call 24/7.

For you example. 1 Hr to get there, 30 min to do job...so total 2 1/2 hours for 1 job...I would expect to make nothing..haha Not sure if I can do a job at this point in 30 min or not. So really i'd be looking at a total of like 3 or 3 1/2 hours time. I suppose I could make $50-$75 labor on top of part price...But, in reality I probably would tell them to come to me. Or I would map it out and do 2 or 3 jobs in the vicinity for more profit.

Their site says to submit a resume, I imagine that as a shop and not an individual, you do not have one. So did you create one for the shop or are you doing this as an individual? What other information did you submit for your approval?

Had some resume on file I just sent in. But, then you have a video/audio interview and someone calls you after that, then a background check.

I'm not getting how it works then... You said you charge whatever you want, and the only costs are equipment and parts, how does icracked make money - just off of parts?

Pretty much like a franchise model without paying royalties. But, an example is say they have 350 iTechs and they all utilize an ipad screen today and their markup is $3 per screen..That would be $1,050 just or that in profit. So x's that how many time per day/per month etc.

The initial investment of $500 - $1K sounds reasonable. But are you obligated to buy minimum inventory? If not how fast is the turn around for shipping? Also concern about stocking screen and other inventory that can become obsolete.

Yes there is a minimum inventory and I believe there are 2 diff packages to select from. Shipping is pretty much same day.

If you were to buy 5 or 10 screens for say an iPhone 4 unless you have no business at all I really don't see them becoming obsolete.

iCracked offers a lifetime warranty on your replaced screen. The warranty covers faulty screens and problems including the screen (does not cover new cracked screen or scratches caused after replacement.
Quote from your website...

So, say iCracked ends up with a bad batch of screens and now 10 of your customers are screaming at you for a replacement under the warranty. I would guess that you would get free screens from the company and then who eats the cost of your traveling and the time spent replacing the screens? Or, is it written that they must mail the unit to you for repair?

If you are sending an employee to do the work in the first place, I suspect that you will be eating the cost of the employee's time for the warranty work?

Yes if for some crazy reason I replace 10 screens and they all go bad iCracked will give me the new screens. I also can tell the customer for "warranty" work they have to bring it to me (no travel time involved or employees time if I do it).

Pretty much if I put a new hard drive in and give a year warranty on the drive it self and the customer calls due to it failing. Do I east the cost of the hard drive..no I get it back from manufacturer. Does the manufacturer pay me for having to put a new drive in the system..nope..So it's really up to how I want to handle it.

I can always say "hardware" is covered under warranty but labor is not. Really up to how a person wants to run their business.

Can you give us info about the buy back?

I also found out, one of the requirement is that you must own an IPhone. Is their an phone apps that you need to conduct the business.

Do you know if they limit the number of iTech based on the area?

Thanks
