What computer stores were you referring to, just out of curiosity?

Computers and Components. One on 120th and Center next to Valentinos. The other one was on 144th and Pacific next to Quickstop. It was 1984 - 1995.

@River Valley Computer Yet another instance of publicly traded corporations destroying everything they touch. IPOs to me aren't the gateway to greatness, they're the beginning of the end!

All about short term gains, not long term goals.

If you love your business, want to be involved, and go public, make damned sure you retain controlling interest. That said, that is often still not enough, or cause major issues. Look at Rogers debacle past few months.

IPOs is about greed usually. Rarely it is about the honest goal to fundraise only.

@MudRock Yep, all the companies that I work with that are SANE to deal with are each and every one of them privately held.

Sadly, once the founders retire... the same old game starts. It's not so much about IPOs as it is about vision. Money is great, but it cannot be the goal in and of itself.
