How's business - September 2009

well, im about to have a well earned holiday in portugal, and then i begin, HARD my new business stagegy

basically ive been doing this for 9 years, but only eveings and weekends, and do very well, but beginning oct 1st my full time employer (which isnt working with computers btw) is allowing me to to do more work during the day, but in return ive had a pay cut (didnt have a choice either a cut, or do this idea - due to recession)

so i have a bigger advert, new website and yell.com going live on oct 1st to make up more business, and well i hope that the hone will ring loads and i can make up the difference, but its going to be hard this side of christmas i think:(

Good luck ITMan. You must have a pretty good customer base if you've been going for 9 years?

If I could start up all over again, I would simply work on my website and getting to the top of Google as it's free advertising and gets me all of my new work. It would have saved me thousands in advertising :(

yeah ive almost done 1600 jbs in that time, and can say that i get a lot of repeat / referrals, but its not going to be enogh now, so ave to find some more work from somehere - ps website is down @ the moment take a peek at /index.php ;)

Looks good - although you might want to change the default Joomla metatags. It looks like it should be easy to rank highly under "oxford computer repair".

yeah thats the last bit, I need to do the metatags for all the pages, and finsh the bottom 4 services i offer, but thanks for the comment!

Not busy here

Of course, only advertising has been Google, and sign out front, and website. Home business, so no drop-ins. Nothing for weeks, but that doesn't bother me, since I've been sick with gallstones or something. Still, would like to have more income coming in. Will have to put some ads out, like a pennysaver insert or something after I get better.

well

We've been focusing strongly on getting paid as quickly as possible, but we've noticed that if we relax for a second, people tend to come up with stalling tactics, etc - as per that techrepublic article. Having a business partner is paying off like crazy because he's doing all the accounting/invoice collections stuff and things are chugging along at a steady pace.
