Since now I have my KAV Rescue Disk booting via PXE. I figured I would share the best way to update ALL Kaspersky products locally.

First you need the Kaspersky Update Utility 2.0
Which you can get here.
I use it in Windows, because I have had no luck with it in *nix.

If you run a HTTP or FTP server on Windows. When you open the updater set it to download to a folder served by one of those services.

If you have a *nix server....I am working on a command line downloader, but for now you can use the windows utility. After updating transfer your Updates folder to your a folder shared by your service.

  1. Open the program
  2. Select the programs you want to do local updates for. (For Rescue Disk You need to D/L Updates for KAV 12 or 13. Possibly just 13, but I have not tested that theory yet.)
  3. Download your selected updates.

Once finished downloading. Take the folder named Updates, and share it with either HTTP or FTP.
If FTP you need to allows anonymous downloads.

I use Apache2 on my Ubuntu Server and I integrated the the Updates to my shared PXE-Dust HTTP folder So my updates for KAV are located at http://10.5.1.100/pd/kaspersky/Updates

Once you have them shared, open Kaspersky, click the update button, on the update screen click settings. In the settings click updates source. then add your new update source http://yourserverip/Updates or ftp://yourserverip/Updates
Once your source is updated uncheck Kaspersky Labs source.

UPDATE Kaspersky

Thanks for this tip - it's saved me a lot of time prepping new machines prior to delivery - I can update in less than a minute which is a huge timesaver! :)

By the way, the latest Update Utility includes the 2014 products - support.kaspersky.com/10957 (couldn't post a link as it isn't redirecting correctly).

Thanks again.
