How much should I charge?

1. I am setting up a printer on the network (DSL router, that every pc is/will connect to)
2. and then I need to configure 3 pcs to print to that printer.
3. I am also setting on of the PCs to the Internet (simple plug-in the cable).
This is on a Verizon DSL router.

This is for a small business. Is there anything I should also be concerned about?

Charging is different everywhere, It depends on Geographics..... But this is what I would charge for that set up.

$99.99 Network Setup (cover 3 pcs)
$29.99 for the Network Printer
$9.99 per pc to hook up to the printer.
SubTotal of $159.95 plus tax for a total of $173.15

I on the other hand, would estimate two hours, at $75 an hour. That is if everything goes as planned. If it turns out that some of the pcs are barely usable, then that would affect things as well.

You have to know how much your time is worth, then costing services out becomes second nature.

+1 - I agree, Figure 2 hours. (And that is everything goes smooth)

Seriously? 2 hours? To plug 3 PC's in, set them to DHCP, plug in a router, set it to DHCP, and set up one printer on 3 PC's?

I guess in the end, it's about the same.... We charge $125 an hour, and would estimate it at 1 hour, with it likely taking about 45 minutes.

I charge $75.00 an hour. So $150 for in home service is good.

I find it odd that no one made reference to time and distance traveled as part of the charges.
All of the charges mentioned sounded fine but if the job was an hours drive I add $ for time in the car...at half the hourly rate times two for the round trip. I figure I could be billing out my full hourly rate if I was not doing this job and charge accordingly. Sometimes, depending on the customer, I may only charge a one way travel time. mileage, tolls, bridges, etc cost me money so either I eat it or get paid for as much of it as I can....and there is no choice for me as to which way to go.If I spend 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes to return and only charge for my time there, then I am losing. If I send someone else I lose less money but get less done in the shop.
IMHO.

I don't charge on Call Out Fee, unless they are over 20 miles away.

Thank you,

This is not far from my workplace. Maybe 5 minutes.

Does anyone here do contract warranty repairs? If so, can and does the payment work out to be profitable?
I do and have had a hard time deciding if the volume/call price reduction is really worth it.
Thanks

I would quote £60 for that, I would include installing AV on the PCs as well if its the first time they have been on the net.

Too many factors variables involved though.
