How much do you charge for simple data recovery?

How much do you charge for data recovery off of a drive that simply won't boot, but the drive is otherwise healthy and recognized by Windows when connected as a secondary drive to your bench computer?

I must be on the cheap end at $29.99 for first two disks then 4.99 for each additional. I'll have to think about raising my price on that service.

I charge £50 but usually throw it onto up to 5 discs included in the price. After that I tell the customer it is £2 per disc or give them a quote for an external HDD. More sales better.

we charge 45, includes one DVD or to external drive, $5/disk after that. We include the service for free if the customer is buying a new one from us.

We put it on an external drive. Depending on what I have to do usually between $60 and $90 plus the cost of the drive.

we created a s/sheet for up to 6 user profiles with the common data to be retrieved & show that to customers, explaining that that's all we can retrieve, data not programs like word etc & most understand when seeing it in b/w like that.

we charge from €40 to €80 depending on how hard the disk is to remove from the lappy, how much data there is to retrieve & what they want it copied to (ie up to around 5gb onto dvd's would be done for 40)

This depends on if we are recovering deleted data or just pulling data off of a drive. Recovering deleted files is $60 for removable media, or $125 for a hard drive. If I'm just pulling data then I charge $50 for a HD clone or image.

Can you give us some idea as to what these profiles are?
I'm guessing people who need local email data imported back? Certificates, IE passwords, encrypted passwords backed up? User settings backed up (with Files & Settings Transfer Wizard)?

$50-70, depending on much data/time I spent on retreival and I stay away restoring customer's data on CDs and DVDs because they can get stratched very easily. I place the customer's data on usb flash drive and I add an extra $10 for the usb drive if they get it from me. It's easier for the client that way - their data is literally with them all the time and/or as they like, where ever they go/travel, etc.

Lately I have been doing $99 for the first 8 gigs but that's not written anywhere, I give them a verbal so I can adjust it as needed. If I go two DVD's or less then its usually $99, for usb its $129. But it really depends on how much work it is and the type of customer. If they are really touchy-feely or testy or agressive and wont let me work on my own it will be higher, sometimes much higher.

This is for simple data recovery. More complex starts at $199.
