24-48 hours here too. What I like is the people who will come in after 2:00pm today and want there computer back before the weekend. All I tell them is I'll try but I can't guarantee.
That drives me nuts. People will show up at 5pm when I close and want to know if they can pick it up in the morning. Seriously, does anyone know of any other business that repairs anything, that does that kind of turnaround?.
You wouldnt take your car to a shop at 5pm and expect it the next morning, right?. Most car shops will "call you" but that sometimes that can take a day or two. When it comes to their PC's they expect a call hours later. People also want to pick it up on holidays or on sunday when they know we are closed.
I sometimes have people just walk in without warning to "just see how it's going". If I am not working on their machine at the time they wonder why I am not doing anything with it.
Same thing with pricing, they always want to know if I can do a "better price". Better for them, not me. I installed some ram "pulls" for a guy because he didnt want to spend more money and when I told him the total was $40 he still wanted to know if I could do a better price on that.
We deal with so much crap in this business that few others have to deal with. It's not like I am running some shady business in some third world country out of a hole in the wall, its a real business with skilled labor, high tech equipment in a afluent area of a Long Island suburb, not a tin shack in Haiti or something.
