Wondering if anyone can help me out here, I'm looking for a genuine dmg file which I can use with transmac to create a bootable usb stick to install on a MacBook pro.
Does the patient boot to an OS?
Can you pass that off to me as well? TIAI'll get you a link later today via PM. It'll be zipped since .dmg's look like folders to winderz.
You have to do that and then close Disk Utility then open it again to see new drives.I needed to initialise the SSD via ubuntu command line first, didn't show up at all in the installer (Yes, i clicked view > all devices).
Macs just frustrate me!
You have to do that and then close Disk Utility then open it again to see new drives.
I thought that disk utilities was available in the installer. But if not you could use fdisk or diskutil. fdisk is probably simpler.
I've had a few Mac SSD upgrades where the new SSD wasn't visible to the OS installer. Worked around it different ways as I recall. One I think I restarted in Target Disk Mode and attached it to another Mac to initialize the disk. On another I think I removed the SSD and initialized it on a different machine with a USB adapter.
So you had a similar issue and booted Ubuntu installer to initialize the SSD then boot the macOS installer to install the OS?
