Have you ever asked "Why Microsoft?"

I'm just curious what some other people have come across and then asked why did you do this Microsoft? I know I have many but the one I asked yesterday is

In Outlook express you do a bulk e-mail and it comes to a e-mail it doesnt like it just stops and gives you error with the bad e-mail. I mean why? Why not continue sending the e-mail to all the other e-mails and then at the end give you a list of e-mails it was unable to send out to. Common sense right?

I've also asked myself many a times what the people who disign computer cases or laptops are thinking when they decide to put something in a place where you have to take the whole thing apart to get to it, but thats another story.

In a quite similar vein; why, when copying large numbers of files, does Explorer always get to approx. 95% done and then freak because of 1 file with the wrong permissions. Why then can you not click "No to All" when re-copying the same files and it asks you about overwrites?

Why didn't I buy microsoft stock when they were cheap? OH sorry its why microsoft does stuff!

Why do they not have a graphical display when you defrag in Vista? I should be able to point, click and see.

As far as laptops I totaly agree. I feel that (while they would be a bit thicker) they should make them like desktops do. You have an ??? type bord that you plug in and everything has its spots. This would make it posible for us small guys/gals to build laptops. That would rock

Why not make the monitores universal and also put a VGA socket on them so when the computer goes bad you can use the moniture for something else.

OH YEA IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE DOLLAR AND CENTS. THEY MAKE EASY FOR THEM AND HARD FOR US.

Are you talking about the screen on the laptop? That would make it easyer to replace screens. I would say atleast once a month I get a laptop with a bad screen in it and most of the time I have to hope ebay has one.

Why do some compaines not send a OS CD?? Do you really think on average the customer makes a Recovery CD?? Or if the HDD fails what then? Just send the CD.

This why I like Vista so much. When del or copying files in XP if it came across a file that couldnt be copied or deleted it would just stop. Where Vista it would prompt you to skip the file that couldnt be deleted and continue on with the rest. Oh another cool thing is copying a folder of the same name in the same directory gives you an option to completely overwrite the folder or to just copy the files inside the folder that are different.

Yes the screen. I started laughing when I saw how you were spelling monitor (monitores) and thought "Oh finally someone who spells worse than me", then I realized you were quoting me. OPP'S slap slap across my own face. I like the fact desktops are so universal and hate that laptops are not.

I also love vista I didn’t like things at first but I never do. Shut it took me tell Win98 to accept windows and not use only DOS. Vista grew on me very quickly though. It defiantly needs a little more RAM then XP, however ram is cheap (well relatively speaking). I remember quoting my customers $1.00 a Meg. back when I got out of doing repair for a living. Of course I also remember laughing and telling customers that wonted the new Pentiums that they could already snap there fingers this fast(demonstrated) now how much faster do you wont to snap them, and pointing them to the 486DX4 100.

I know I always drag stuff on and go off topic, I am sorry when my fingers get to running they do this on their own. Shut half of the time I don’t realize what I am typing tell I actually look at the screen and read it.

Not to hijack the thread, but if you run into that a lot, look into Unstoppable Copier. It's EXTREMELY handy for backing up/copying lots of files with questionable permissions or readability.

My favorite thing from Microsoft is generic and non-descriptive errors. For example try connecting to a machine via remote desktop that has no password. You'll get an error that doesn't give the slightest indication of how to resolve it.

Haha yea look at my signiture. Still doen't mean I use the spell check. :D

Why didnt Microsoft give the Recovery Console some more options to do? About the only thing I ever do is run chkdsk with it. Sometimes fixmbr or fixboot but thats about it. I mean they could of atleast made it able to run DOS programs from it right? Or is that asking to much?

You haven't seen apple have you? Even my ipod just gives a little sad ipod face... what the hell does that mean. You look it up on their site and it says send it in, that's it. Just that my ipod is lonely and needs some time away at a resort I suppose.

I prefer Beyond Compare for keeping track of that sort of thing, although you can't argue with freeware.
