Well I've lived through all the greats and I cannot think of anyone better than Queen. Just been watching them on Youtube at Live Aid 1985. Superb.

Who's your favourite?

I've had songs from "A Day At The Races" running through my head since I cranked it up in the car the other day, and this week I dug out my DVD of "Queen - We Will Rock You," the film from the tour I saw back in '82, I believe - no concert ever came close to that one. Freddy Mercury was simply Mr. Entertainment, and the whole band was tight as hell, and just plain rocked. Can't argue with you.

I saw Queen at the Los Angeles Forum in 1977 and Freddie Mercury came down from the ceiling singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I personally think Freddie was probably the best lead singer ever - and Bohemian Rhapsody is one of my favorite songs EVER.

Have to agree with you on Queen. One of my all time favourite groups. Unfortunately I didnt get to see them live. (Had the chance to at Maine Road in '86), but didnt take the offer up. Freddie, could set the audience alight with his voice.

I have seen Meatloaf 3 times, and each time, it has been a awesome experience, 1st time was at Wembley when he collapsed on stage.

2nd time was in Mcr at the MEN on the same tour. (The 1st gig was 'postponed' due to his illness, the 2nd date I couldnt go to, as I was due to be in the states at the time), so I went to the ticket office at the MEN, told the lady there my plight.. said, all I would like is 1 ticket, I dont care where in the arena I am.. she said, how would you like to be at the front??.. I snapped her hands off lol. Block B, row A, seat 3. IE middle of the stage front, front row!!, 6' away from the great guy all night. I was hoarse, deaf, and could hardly move the following day!.

Last time, was the 3 bats tour. Again sat on the floor, but quite a few rows back this time.

Also saw 'The Boss' aka Bruce Springsteen at Old Trafford Cricket Ground a good few years back. This time, I was stood in the middle, but it was a awesome gig.

Not sure what the best band I have seen is live, I have seen so many and many are good for different reasons.

The Damned are perhaps one of the best bands I have seen because they still play so well. I am not a fan of stadium gigs and much prefer smaller venues.

I am annoyed I never got to see the Clash or the Ramones :(.

I saw the Damned play a couple of years ago and they were very tight and so relaxed at doing their thing. My brother is a massive punk fan and has been to scores of their gigs ever since they started. I think they recognise him by now.

I think it's ironic to hear a Queen song being described a self-indulgent by a Floyd fan. Many people would say Floyd are the most self-indulgent band ever. In their early days they didn't even bother facing the audience by all accounts. Prog rockers, super long songs, overly serious lyrics, songs about themselves, endless guitar solos etc - all the hallmarks of a self-indulgent group.

Personally I love the Floyd and Queen. I don't think self indulgence is necessarily a bad thing in music. I imagine many the greatest composers were chin-stroking train-spotters of their time.
