Graphic driver issue- not enough resources? SOLVED

Hi, I just replaced the hd on a dell n4010 and can't seem to get the video driver installed correctly, I downloaded the driver from dell and can't seem to get a handle on this, reinstalled a couple times, still fail, ideas?

Maybe you should try getting the driver straight from Intel - they might have a fix or an updated driver. Good luck.

Yup, I tried that too, directed me to the manufacturer, dell, I did figure it out though, finally.
I changed the view in device manager to all devices plus hidden and then clicked on the resources view to see the conflict. There were yellow ! Below the memory category, I uninstalled a AMD filter and that was just above the conflict and it removed a ton of drivers, I uninstalled the video driver too and immediately rebooted , all the drivers reloaded on boot along with my hd intel graphic driver, this time it installed correctly. Just one of the drivers didn't belong or was corrupted I guess.

Ah good job.

thanks, got lucky - not sure if it was view resources by connection or type in device manager where I saw the issues, but I finally put 2+2 together, the whole job took 3x as long as it should, n4010 is one of those where you have to remove the mobo to just swap the hard drive!!!

I learned a long time ago there is no such thing as a 5min job.
Once went to an xray room to replace a collimator bulb. Planned on being there 20min or so and on my way.
I was there 3 days and had to call in for support. lol The 24v line was gone and the schematics were in French.

That's why it kills me when customers want exact repair times. You quote it and end up eating hours of work.
I always leave what I call "Wiggle Room" in my time estimates with no guarantees.

Took you 3x as long but your rep is still in tact, which is what you ultimately want in the end. Just a bit poorer. lol

yeah, lucky I only had only two machines to work on and no distractions, it was my first n4010, I never have pulled a mobo and have been in business 6 years! I'm more into viruses and software issues, but learning to pick up some more hardware jobs for new challenges...maybe not a great idea, we'll see!

Customer: "How long will it take to fix it ?"

Tech: "I won't know until I do a full diagnosis and we find out what's wrong."

Customer: "Ok, so how long will it take you to fix it once you know what's wrong ?"

Tech: "Well I can't tell, because until I know what's wrong, I don't know how long it will take to fix it."

Customer: "Ok, so how long will that take ?"
