Ok so my uncle recently installed Windows 7.. The technician that did it charged about 100 dollars for it.. She also installed a Magic Jack and DVD burner software and she just charged that amount of money.. So I'm curious where did she buy the windows 7 software that it was sooo cheap for her to install it and everything for only 100.. Isn't windows 7 expensive??

So my question is where do technicians purchase their software ??
For all of you that do this for a living, what is your preferred supplier??

Seriously doubt it was a legit sale. There's just not any way she could get it that cheap unless it was pirated or some kind of academic/student license (which wouldn't be legal to install on someone else's computer).

I could never imagine anyone actually buying the software for 100 dollars. Was the burning software Nero or something close to it or a free burning software?

Since your down in Phoenix, and that used to be my stomping grounds, go check out TPI, their the largest wholesale distributor in Phoenix. I used to get tons of crap from them. Once a month or so, I used to drive to City of Industry California and pick up a van+trailer full of parts straight from the big guys though, you always win cutting out as many middle men as you can, but TPI was always their for me locally.

TPI is right by the old "Chris Town Mall", want to say across the street to the west. I think Chris Town changed their name, not sure to what, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I've never paid more than $75 for XP Home or $95 for XP Pro, both OEM, but I've yet to purchase Vista or 7 as I've been out of the loop for a couple of years, and am just getting my new business up and running here in Seattle, however, I'm sure Bill has kept his pricing structure somewhat similar.

You may even have heard about my shop down there, it was Emerald Computer's on 43rd AVE & Peoria, right next to the CAD store, I was there for over 5 years.

Good luck with all your ventures,

Thank you!! Thank you!! I'm going to start going there.. I think it has the same name they just added Spectrum under Chris Town..

I have heard Stories like these. They install office enterprise for $100 which is usually 450 for volume license. It def. isn't legit and What I think people do is purchase one copy and reactivate a million times. Just do a phone activation and done.

I was also going to say Newegg and Tiger Direct. There are so many different places where she could have bought it from, don't know. Does your uncle still have her contact information? If so, if that's important to you, get it from him and see about asking her yourself.

Hopefully, she was honest enough and purchased a legit copy of it.
