Good data recovery companies

Just curious, what data recovery companies any of you use when recovery moves past the normal tech environment. I've heard Gillware mentioned here and there but never used them myself. What companies do you use/recommend?

Used to do drive savers, now 300 dollar data recovery.

We have used Gillware several times. Can become expensive, but we have had good results and they have good support. We make about 20% as an affiliate.

Yes, I think the demand for data recovery is probably declining with all the options for free online backup services and the fairly inexpensive cost of storage these days. Still, those options require forethought and action, something that even I have been guilty of not having. A full 2 weeks after I bought a new machine and restored all the data and programs from my last, my drive died and I had not setup a backup, imaged, etc. I have lots of customers like this, but even then, not all are willing to lay out $300+ for data recovery.

I cringe at the $99 data recovery guys. Has anyone tried any of those companies out?

The $99 guys are either "software only" (probably trying all the same stuff you would try as a computer tech) or scam artists trying to lure you in and jack-up the prices. At least that is my understanding.

I honestly think we are the best first option for anyone who needs data recovery. We are much safer and more thorough than any $99 joint and cheaper and more honest than any clean room. But, if it's not worth $300, then the best chance is you running software data recovery tools (like R-Studio, GetDataBack, or UFS Explorer - my top three favorites).

I'll chime in. Had a customer whose HD died a tragic death. I couldn't retrieve the data so I gave him 300DDR's info. Brian recovered the PST (the only file he really cared about) and, I believe, other docs for good measure. My customer, Mike, was very pleased with not only the price but the speed with which the job was done.

to be quite honest I have been talking to one my newest home business clients to have a look at ur services. I see you have a good reputation here and if I can talk him into seeing if he really wants his data back. I will be sure to send the business your way.

Seems his hard drive just crashed and since I dont do physical data recovery I knew it was better not to touch it myself. Instead we opted to buy a new hard drive and re-install the O/S since most of the files were backed up to his laptop. Although he keeps asking me about it, if he is still interested, the business will go your way.
