Okay,

So I'm doing a windows re install on a Gateway AIO (ZX6800).
I goto the gateway support page, type in the model number for the drivers and I get

"Service not available"

What do you mean no service available? What the heck is that? Anyone else have this issue? So it seems I
have a fresh copy of windows and no drivers to install?

Can't get any Acer driver downloads, same "service not available" message.

Either try again later or get drivers elsewhere.

Do you use Snappy driver installer? Highly recommended.

No,

I need to try snappy driver installer. The service isn't down, what I've figured out is that its not available to products "out of warranty"
This forces you to buy the recovery disk from them - highway robbery if you ask me....

Never heard of any such thing. They must be having a site problem as all drivers show the same thing.

Me neither,

However if you go to the "Support & Drivers" Desktop>XZ Series>ZX6800> "Service Not available"
Iif you try ZX4970 then you get drivers for Windows 7,8, 8.1.

The customer support is so bad I can't even get a number to call unless I have a gateway/Acer currently under warranty.

Looks like you were correct (Thankfully) I did a quick check this morning and yes, drivers were available - very odd. First time I've had an issue where drivers for one device were not available but another was. I guess I jumped the gun a bit. I honestly thought it was another money grab from Acer/Gateway [lack of] support.

Thankfully such is not the case.

K.

Happens all the freaking time. If the downloads are available, they download at worse than dial-up speeds. Takes a freaking hour just to download the graphics driver. I don't even bother to use their site anymore. There are plenty of other ways to get the proper drivers. Driver Pack Solution, Snappy Driver Installer, 3dChip, etc. I'm sure this is Gatway/Acer's goal. Saves them bandwidth. They are the same company after all. Gateway, Acer, and eMachines are all owned by the same cheap jerk. I would never buy any of their products.

I'm reinstalling a Gateway 6020gz laptop with Win XP and I get the message "Service Not Available"..@. http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads
I trying to get the wireless driver installed which is reported to be a "broadcom airforce one 54g (bcm4318 wireless lan) driver", but if I go to the Broadcom website I can't find the driver there either. :(

Have you tried the PCI/VEN method to look up the driver?

Yes, and that's how I came up with the 'bcm4318' theory.
The driver I installed came from the Driver Pack Solution - DVD and I still have a yellow flag.

I haven't tried this before, but does anyone know if I can install a different wireless device like and Intel and get it to work?
I sure wish I could get this thing working... I plan on passing this along to someone in need (free) as I got the laptop free and I had an old ide hard drive sitting around to put in it.

I bought some Intel cards on eBay and installed them on D630's, Intel 3945ABG, for technical reasons. No problem getting them to work.

I found a driver via Dell "Wireless 1370 WLAN MiniPCI Card" which works but it doesn't work with all wireless networks so I'm purchasing an inexpensive USB mini adapter which will work A thru N and doesn't require drivers.
Thanks for the input...:)
