Back in 2008 (late Fall) an Intel engineer spoke at my Church's Youth Group (don't remember what about) and afterwords I caught him before he got into his van to tell him I really liked his message (that I can't remember, haha).

We both talked Church for a while and in a few minutes we were talking about all kinds of random stuff. I told him I had a passion for computers (this was back when I worked for Alltek [now my competitor]) and he began to talk about his work at Intel.

He said that they had an operational 16-core processor developed, and if they invested more time into the project they could have had it ready for consumers within the end of the year. [btw, NOT a server processor]

Some developers at Intel were "why not release it now, and get a major leg up on AMD?". Their marketing and head developers replied "because the gaming crowd won't benefit from it".

The guy (haha, I probably forgot his name less than a week after he left) told me 'if the gamers don't need it- we hold on it' (to that regard).

:rolleyes:If only politicians listened to people that well, haha.

But just a cool notion, how one group of people can really drive a market.

Doesn't really suprise me lol .. Wouldn't be suprised if AMD is working on something bigger and better all underwraps of course .. "because it isn't needed"

ok ok, no game out there is going to benefit from a 16-core processor atm..
but no game is going to require a 16-core processor, until there is a 16-core processor (on the market that is) ..

why would you create a game that required hardware that didn't exist ??

its like when Crysis first hit the shelves .. there was only a small handful of computers out there that could actually run the thing at full specs .. thats why there sales where quite a considerable amount lower than their expectations ..

Marketers and Lawyers are all the same :p
