Hm. Maybe if they finished their perpetual development project d7x they'd be getting more revenue, but I have doubts about having them start pushing the kind of plugin that I generally remove as being suspect at best.

"How it works: When visiting Amazon.com product pages, an ID is added by your web browser (if one does not already exist) to identify our Foolish IT account for Amazon.com Associates (an affiliate program.)"

Yeah.......

I got the same email this morning with the same thoughts. It irritated me that they are pushing this to make revenue, but we haven't seen anything from them in months.

Agreed, scoffed at it when I saw it this morning. Haven't seen anything from them in nearly a year that warranted me giving them any money, and now they're asking people to install a browser plugin to give them money? wtf? Even LinusTechTips doesn't push that hard. In fact, I'd bet this is a violation of Amazon's terms.

Indeed this is a violation of Amazon terms. A really desperate ploy...

Im sure d7II is a great program if you know how to use it properly. I never took the full time it took to fully utilize it. Matter of fact for what I mostly use. Techwaru seemed more stable and the free windows repair toolbox that the user on here released for free is better for me. No errors. I could never seem to get the automation down and I'm not a programmer. The support apparently seems not as good as when they started from the looks of what everyone here is saying. I hope they get it together for the folks that still use it.

I've just cancelled my yearly renewal for D7II as a feel D7x is still a long way off. and am now looking at different option, But I have until Feb 2017 to find one.

@FoolishTech any further update you could give, I've checked the forum but can't find any update apart from 3 months ago
My renewal is in February 2017 also.
I would be interested in your finding in terms of different options.

I got the email but never read it until I saw this thread and then deleted it. I find that a customized UVK is a one time payment and works alot better for me. Plus the guy making it is constantly pushing out updates and support for it.

D7II works great for me and is very automated, however, I use it mainly for virus removals, which rarely come in anymore and I don't see the point of paying a monthly fee when it's not actively being maintained. It would be nice for @FoolishTech or Brantley or someone from there to chime in here. As I stated before D7 and D7II used to be updated daily, hopefully, UVK for those that use it continues to be updated regularly.

I use WRT and D7 for Virus Removals and Tune up processes. But it has been discouraging to not hear any real news from this company. I been waiting for the new version of Cryptoprevent for what seems like forever.

I may be mistaken, but this seems like a huge reaction to a very small project, which amounts to maybe a few dozen lines of JavaScript from an idea that formed and went to a release in probably less time than it will take me to properly respond here.

The idea was as much about gaining a little extra dev/testing time as it was to earn a few extra bucks on some CryptoPrevent customers shopping on Amazon, without actually costing them anything (not exactly our M.O. to make protection a required expense, since CryptoPrevent protections themselves always were, are, and will be FREE.) The dev/testing time could be created by shaving at least a little time here and there off tickets in our queue from those in a massive base of CryptoPrevent users built on viral media exposure and the effectiveness to back it. We greatly appreciate those users for contacting us and being so thankful and eager to shell out more in supporting us than what we were asking, much like the relatively small technician user base (in comparison) here on these very forums, who we ALSO greatly appreciate for having done exactly the same, pushing the donations and even encouraging higher prices at a time when D7 went from being free and a part time hobby to a full time business.

These days I don't visit these (or any) forums until someone alerts us of something that absolutely requires our attention, because I just "don't get out that much" even on the internet, so be aware that yes, we ARE in fact more concerned with the big code projects that actually contribute real income, and that we would very much like to get them finalized and released much more than you realize. Having known everyone at Foolish IT previously, working alongside most for years, when I asked for their help it wasn't based friendship or even solely in knowledge, but rather a shared characteristic I knew existed between us, which I intentionally intended to exploit (…sorry guys!) That would be enjoying what you do, caring that it is done properly and completely, and just being a work-aholic about it. You won't see it much right now in product releases, but I assure you that I see this extreme dedication daily, and have not been disappointed in that by ANY means with ANY one of us. I know well the highly stressful pace required to facilitate that and the entirety of one's personal life that is lost. I also regret slowly seeing how our health is suffering and really showing; the before/after pictures of both myself and Brantley's growing and degrading bodies since taking on these massive coding projects could provide a good testament to that! I didn't even know what a "FUPA" was until I grew one, and I've been sitting here for about a year now on a molded donut over prostate pinching from coding d7x for many times 14-16 hours a day with no breaks. I'll be afraid and ashamed to ask Brantley what is going on when he is finally forced to take a few hours to visit a doctor over some extreme issue of his that I know is coming…

So please understand that we didn't intend to waste any real time on the Chrome/Amazon thing, or to ruffle any feathers here, especially over something so minor as a lunch break's worth of time. Additionally please understand we don't intend to spend any more on the backlash either. Don't think we're not frustrated over not being finished with any shiny new v1.0's yet, and for most of us 'extremely stressed' is a better way to put it.

I do believe I understand your frustration in these quiet times from us, and in fact yes I got frustrated too when learning of these comments (knowing firsthand what we are all going through, and how far we've come on it) but I get it now and you are right to be frustrated! Unfortunately, unlike our sad and suffering bodies, we have little to show in our actual labors yet… but I guarantee you that as shown above, we greatly appreciate our loyal customers, so you should understand that we fully intend to honor and reward those who stick with us through the seemingly slow times in the best way that we can, and not merely by providing software that raises the bar yet again...

In other news, d7x is still in my daily grind, and the only visual you can get on my code is the last KillEmAll v5 beta https://www.foolishit.com/d7x/killemall/ because it's the first and most simple complete app I could build on top of the d7x framework as it is being developed, and it will actually become d7x before it's finished, though I'm not working on any other UI at this time.

Also Brantley has an updated version of the CryptoPrevent v8 beta which was released just yesterday: https://www.foolishit.com/cryptoprevent-beta/ and maybe he will speak more about it as necessary.

CPv8 should be the first of anything new to be a final release, at which time moving on means a restructure that will actually provide me with two new developers to bring into working on the d7x platform I am tediously building right now, in order to help finish the full d7x, and also to convert our other products to that platform and build upon them right alongside d7x in the future.

I hope this didn't come across too poorly (I'm running on less sleep today than usual), that it helps to clear a few things up, and that you will forgive us if we aren't back soon to field any further concerns…
