Waiting out side the shop when i open up is a customer who picked up a laptop yesterday evening.

We replaced the DC jack tested and sold the customer a power cable because the one they had had melted.

Customer said in a nice and polite way the job you have done is not working can you please fix it this time.

I asked for them to show me what they are doing for it not to be working.

WAIT FOR IT!

They are trying to plug the power adapter in to the ethernet port! haha - Telling me she always does this and the battery always charges hehe :)

After 5 minutes of a quick lesson of what each port does she is happy and i hope will be ok with the whole repair and after service :)

Got to love customers!

Just like the ones with ps2 keyboards and mice that cant put the right color in the right hole and call and say their computer wont boot. Thank goodness most every thing is USB now.

Personally, I have put a usb plug into an ethernet port on more than one occasion. I'm always trying to reach around he back of the machine and doing it 'blind' like that. Whoever decided to make those two ports the same width (it really does fit quite nicely) and then always place them right next to each other holds a special place in my heart.

I got a customer couldn't figure out which usb port to put her dongle in, "They all look the same!"

If she knew as much as you do about computers, she wouldn't need you, would she?

My customers know lots more than I do about a whole lot of things. I respect that, and they, in turn, respect my knowledge.

Some of my clients still insist that the USB devices have to be inserted into the same ones as last time...

Probably old Dell desktop owners. Ever plug in a generic keyboard in those old Dells and try to enter a customer's password if you plugged into the wrong USB port? :D

I had a client who brought their computer to me to check it after they weren't getting a video signal. They told me they put the HDMI connection for their monitor in this port, pointing to the USB port and couldn't figure out why the monitor wouldn't work.
