Hello folks! Does anybody know of a free / Cheap program that will allow me to convert a .gi file to mp3? I need to edit the contents of an audio file that is saved in the .gi format used by a Bravo II Primera cd duplicator in a Windows 7 pc. The content of the file is 100 questions used for a citizenship class. A few questions and answers have changed and we need to edit them for the class. The program has to allow me to convert it back to .gi once the content has been updated. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I just did quick check and a .gi file, which I have never heard of, is an image file, not a data file. So you need to unpack the image to access the actual data files. Try fiddling around with a Linux distro to see what you can do with a copy of it.

according to http://www.primera.com/pdfnew/DPNew/DPII510873Link.pdf "The master is stored in the Global Image format (*.gi) in a temporary location on your computer. PTPublisher uses this temporary file to make all subsequent copies that are requested."

My guess is that it's an ISO file or a variation on it. I notice that ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/ can read this file type along with a dozen other disc image types.

Correct, the gi file is a global image file. Older technology that Primera uses. The Linux idea is a good idea. I'll give that a try.
Thanks Mark
