Export/convert windows live mail to Outlook

An error has occurred while initializing MAPI.

I think that happens if Outlook isn't installed, or has no profile created. You can create a profile without having to add an account using the Control Panel > Mail applet.

And is Outlook set as the default email client in Settings > Apps > Default Apps?

Yeap.

Maybe do a repair-install on Office. In the Apps list instead of Uninstall you can choose Modify and then you get repair options.

Nothing would work for me, so ended up just creating new personal folders as per emClient. Then dragged the old emails across to outlook recreated folders.
