End of lifetime licenses?

I was looking for a remote support solution (1 man business at the moment) a couple of months ago and I'm sure when I looked at TeamViewer and other programs there were lifetime licenses. Am I missing something or have they all changed to monthly ongoing licenses?

ScreenConnect pretty much did away with theirs about a month ago, or perhaps the self-hosted version still has it just at 6x the price it was previously (now $2195 but covers 3 techs/10 simultaneous connections). They used to get a lot of discussion on here.

Simple-help still has one-time pricing basically the same as what ScreenConnect used to have ($320 and dropping per simultaneous session). We started to set it up for a trial but then got busy and haven't returned to it yet. They don't have the active user forums of SC and I'm not sure they update as frequently, but they seem to be working on either adding MSPish functionality or creating something new targeted at MSPs ("SimpleProvider").

Just talked with team viewer. They still have the lifetime option, but are offering the yearly. I have TV10 business with 1 additional seat, and my upgrade fee is $249.99 for a lifetime of TV11.

Hm, looking at the TeamViewer site it looks like they may have jumped back to the lifetime ones (at least on the Buy page). Their pricing for Premium with 1 concurrent channel looks to be in the same ballpark as Instant Housecall's lifetime pricing for 10 concurrent sessions.

I'll throw in the note I put in a couple other places, Simple-Help also has a 20% discount related to the ScreenConnect increase, https://simple-help.com/screenconnect-refugees-discount-page . (No relationship, not even a customer, not getting and won't accept any kickbacks, etc. In fact, we got busy during the trial period and never got Simple-help punched through our firewall so I haven't even really trialed it yet.)

I know this is kinda an older threat on the topic but I was debating TeamViewer which I really like, and have trailed for quite a while, but then I found out about Simple Help. I am seriously considering simple help because of the much lower cost and the ability to self host it. However, TeamViewer is more responsive, has some good advantages like viewing the Windows Login Screen and Security Screen (When you press Ctrl-Alt-Del) where it seems SimpleHelp doesn't show you that. I would really like to host my own setup (I have a static IP, etc). And definately need reduced cost, but am looking for the quality and sophistication that TeamViewer has. Does anyone have any thoughts about that?

Can't beat instant housecall ...

If you only need 1 session the Uno is pretty inexpensive, and Express is reasonable too.

I'd recommend the express to give you the Auto PC Repair tools, but if you're just looking at the price point and don't want the extra tools it's a bargain.

Unless you purchase SimpleHelp it's hard to judge speed as the trial is not running on your server. (I can sure tell which of my clients have received other online help before. Some of them tell me they don't see "the numbers" to read to me as I'm already zipping around their screen - heh.....)

Thank you for that. That gives me some confidence in it. I am thinking SimpleHelp will be the way I will be going.

One thing I found unexpected with SimpleHelp is that the nice server control screen you get in the demo does not exist in the application. The server runs as a service and you access that server from the parent machine or any machine using the tech panel only. Don't get me wrong - the tech panel works great, has more features and keeps everything for SimpleHelp right there, I just wasn't ready for the change in format from demo to live.
