Duplicate User Accounts

Windows Vista Home Basic (of course) When booting to Login screen I get an error incorrect password. I choose switch user and I have duplicate user accounts with same icon. I choose one and when I enter the correct password I get incorrect password. When I choose the other I login correctly. This is a emachines desktop with fresh install of Windows Vista. Cannot find a resolution to this on a Google search, all references is to fingerprint scanner software and not the issue.

I've seen quirks like that when someone renames their user account.....although you say it's a fresh install. Go into the Users folder...often (at least used to be the case...I think Vista continued the quirk)...if you rename an account, the users folder remains the original account name. Look for time/date stamps to compare....ensure no data in duplicate profile..and then delete it. (after double checking no data/settings need to be copied out of it)

Thanks

I did rename the primary account after doing a fresh install. Tried every trick I found and nothing worked. Removed password and no problem at all. The customer was fine with that saying that they did not require a password.
Thanks for all the suggestions....:)
