Do you track parts from the supplie to the jobs they were used in? So if a part fails you can claim it back from the supplier?

Kind of yes. There are 3 main suppliers I use. On the invoice from my supplier, I always write down the customer name on that, so if I need to RMA, I know exactly where it is.
Although I do need to get a better system organised than this.
I am attempting to write a access db, which will allow me to do this, and a host of other things too. Maybe a job to start on, during the xmas break..

If I buy HDs or DVDRWs (or other little things) from a different supplier than my main one, I write it on the part itself (usually on my warranty sticker).
Buy even if I'm not sure who it was bought from, a short phone call to the lab, I give them the device's S/N, and they tell me if I bought it from them, when, and how long the warranty is for.
Thought about attaching a barcode reader to my PC, and scanning it right into some DB, but haven't had the time to mess with it yet.
