Used to be "Gold Team H" for our reps....was great for years.
Not long ago got changed to some other team...heard they broke up Team H.
Service/response sucked. Rumor was there was a big "walkout".
Online portal changes.....and lack of help from reps...plus huge delays in orders recently. Pissing me off.

Started getting some Dell rigs direct from Ingram Micro instead...mixed in with the HP 'n Lenovo gear.

If there was a walkout it was probably reps taking pay cuts or them having to sell more to make the same amount of money. How much margin can there be in a $599 optiplex these days? Just my guess.

We are using Lenovo for larger orders and maybe I am just crazy (ok I know that is true) but I love to design and build my own. I give my clients a choice.

Brian from what I got out of my rep last time it seems like we just get partner andpremier and that's it.

I don't seem to have a direct contact but I rarely use them. My stock machines I get from distributor (I use tech data). Servers I get from premier. Everything else is spread between amazon newegg Provantage techdata

Do you get items through ADI? They have been trying to get my dell business

I can't stand HP machine. I'm just use to Dell. I do want another laptop company but seems to be same pricing.

My first Dell rep was awesome. She sounded cute, and I got to meet her before she got transferred to another dept months ago. My new Dell rep, we talked once on the phone, and that was him introducing himself, since then...nothing.

For the most part, we use Dell for Servers and SonicWALLs. Occasionally we do a bulk order for Dell's, but to be honest, Lenovo is better. We do most bulk workstation orders through them. Though I prefer the Optiplex's, it really comes down to my customers decision.

Occasionally we do custom rigs for business clients, typically more than 5, usually more than 10. It's crazy for about day or two putting them all together, but that's the price you pay for custom computers. These are usually are artsy graphic guys, CAD folks, and photographers.

I rarely go below 750 or so...usually start with an i5/8 gigs/upgraded HDD and go up from there. But we're belting out servers at several per month for a long time now and those are typically >5,000.

Yeah for sure more margin in servers lol. I don't deal with replacing too many so far, but yeah I can totally understand your frustrations in your situation.

Dell has been extremely difficult to work with over the last 18 months.

Their issues are not related to the company going private, they had issues at least 6 months before that.

They have recently disbanded the partner team pods. Now you are supposed to call in for quotes and orders, but it doesn't make any sense because they still want you to send them a shopping cart.

Then, pricing is all over the place. In some cases, the reseller price has been higher than what Dell would sell the same item online to a regular customer for.

The one thing I found that seems to work for large dollar sales ($20,000 and up) is to always register the deal. I'm finding that the pricing nonsense that goes on is eliminated if you register the deal and refer to the registration when getting pricing. Registering the deal has always been kind of "optional" depending on who you were working with. But I would say if you are not seeing a 30-35% margin on Enterprise hardware in the PV line, then you should register and requote.

We also had our rep "move to a different department," and now we have to call or email the sales pool to get a quote/purchase. We have to call in to complete the purchase, because accessing our quote on the online portal always adds shipping or tax.

You can email your certificates to Tax_Department@Dell.com. It's a disaster though because you never get any kind of alert when your tax cert expires out of their system, its not aligned to any particular date that makes sense to you. But I do like placing order with the quote to order system because its the only way to see the final price you will be charged before submitting.

That's been a bug in their system for years, by the time the order is processed...the tax should be cleared. But the "confirmation" you get will still show the tax. (at least it's been that way for years for us...and our original rep Justin, which was very good, told us it was that way).

If that ADI place doesn't work out, and going through Ingram doesn't, I'll be bummed. I enjoyed Dells servers for our "entry" to "mid level" server needs. HP Proliants fill the high end servers. Dell was also good for entry to mid level laptops (Latitudes), desktops (Optiplex series), and loved their Precision graphics workstations. I like HP's business desktops, the Elite series, but they're a bit more expensive, on the level with Optiplx 70xx and 90xx series. Dells filled the spot around 800-900 range for desktops....was a good fit.

Last time I had this problem it took 3 months to get a sales tax refund.

Yes, and there is even a note on the order page (somewhere) that says that for tax exempt resellers, tax will still be shown until the final order is placed. However, we have had instances where we placed the order, and the tax was actually charged.

Also, the shipping is sometimes charged when we order online, despite being quoted no-charge shipping. We just don't take a chance anymore and finalize the order by phone, because it is so difficult to get refunded for these charges.

Had exact same issue.

ADI is great for camera and other gear as well.

I never did Ingram, not sure why. TechData isn't bad but only for preconfigured units.
