Have this dell from hell here - issue wont charge.

Have tested DC OK..mmmmk

Is new dell charger [original] for the model and tested OK..mmmk

Issue is it comes up with The AC adapter wattage and type cannot be determined on boot.

BIOS states Unknown Adapter - damn I hate dell laptops

Have you tried another known-good Dell adapter?

Have you checked to see if the BIOS is up-to-date?

Does the laptop have an OEM battery in it or is it a knock-off?

Sounds like the charge port has lost the 'third wire', which connects to the identity chip in the charger. This would allow the charger to run the laptop, but not charge the battery.

You may just need to remake the charge socket connections or replace the charge socket.

isnt that an onboard chip
The charger ID chip is in the charger. If the laptop can't talk to the ID chip, you get the Unknown Adapter message. It's well-documented, e.g., here.

You have already tried different (known good, genuine Dell?) chargers, so the fault is in the laptop.

Edit: did you just delete a post? Have you tried another charger?

Edit again: I'll come back when you stop changing your posts.

Sorry is a Brand new Dell Charger, I have an Identical system - shows in BIOS on one system but not in other - charges in one?

Flashed BIOS does the same - couldnt resolve charge issue close thread
