[SOLVED] DELETE

No way in heck I'd resell a gaming laptop for $100 in profit. Too much risk, too little reward. Add a 2.5 hour drive into the equation and only a desperate person would do something like this. 2.5 hours @60MPH = 150 miles. That's 300 miles there and back. The average vehicle costs $1/mile to drive (gas, depreciation, insurance, etc.), so you're looking at making a profit of -$200. Hey, it's like driving for Uber! You're trading the value of your vehicle for "profit."

Gotta go there anyway for other things :)

Now what do you think?
Still a huge risk for only $100 in profit. If you don't get a 70% margin on sales, it's difficult to stay in business. That means I've gotta sell a item I got for $500 for $1,600 minimum in order to make it worth my time. Since it's a high dollar amount, I might bump that down to $1,200 if I really needed a gaming laptop in stock.

Even if you're talking about a Craigslist deal "under the table" sort of thing, it still doesn't make sense. $100 in profit to have to fix, list, and then meet up with 2-3 losers who won't show up and/or will try to haggle on the spot to take all your profit away isn't worth it. You might as well just to go Goodwill and buy a chair and try to flip it for an extra $100. At least you won't be $500 in the hole plus your time trying to fix it.

I wouldn't personally pay a dollar more than $400 and I wouldn't sell it for less than $1,000 or $1,100. At least then I'd be closer to my target gross margin. And I wouldn't drive anywhere to get it. They'd have to bring it to me. My time is valuable. If I spend 30 minutes going and getting it, that's 30 minutes of unbillable time + the wear and tear on my car. I would go and get it if it were $150 or something and the seller wasn't willing to bring it to me, but at that price I'd be worried there was something seriously wrong with it.

You're in the business to make money, not to buy computers. I don't want the gaming laptop - I want the money. It's all about numbers. If the numbers don't work, it doesn't matter how nice the computer is. There's very little I'd do for $100. I mean heck, my diagnostic alone is $75.
