I haven't used it but i did give windows steady state a try for home use and it worked a treat. Stopped a lot of rubbish being installed when my bro was younger and would stick in any cd he found on a box of cereal!

Pretty similar and its free from MS!

Hi DarDar,

I was really excited for a second about SteadyState being free and all but I went to Microsoft website and it says now compatible with vista and went to a forum and they say its not tested for windows 7 and has of right now there is not intention to do so :-(
looks like yet another useful tool Microsoft is eliminating...

Ah bummer! Although it did take them a while to get it compatible with vista. I have to imagine they will make it available for win 7 given the similarities with vista. Here's hoping anyways!

Deep Freeze is Great!

I have used for over 3 yrs now and it has saved many machines for us. I work in a school environment, we use this all over our district and is great for a green approach as well as a steady environment. The green approach feature is the ability to automate shutdown of systems at a certain time saves us a bunch of $$ each year. Also using a console you can interact with a number of machines all at once.

It works with both Macs & PCs as well!
