I have been using PCRT for about 3 mths now and it works very well. But there are some things that i was not a fan of and was having those things changed. I had our programming team make those changes but they said its most feasible to redesign the project or create something new because the code was very hard to work with.

I can not comment on the coding side of things because PCRT works very well for the time i have used it i just wanted so many things done to it.

So i am highly considering the redesign depending on their cost, but before i do this i was looking for some suggestions on things to do differently. I definitely want to have more accounting type features similar to quickbooks as well as simple quickbooks integration. I do intend on keeping the POS functions as well. Perhaps having a view option for a register type look supporting a touchscreen.

I have looked at mhelpdesk and zendesk and want to create the ultimate help desk/ repair tracker solution.

It would be great if i could get some input from the community as if something is developed and then a user might find some features that they wish were in there. I will also employ some beta testers to help test the system after it is created and of course the cost will be discounted for all those that have contributed via ideas or from testing.

There is lots of talk about the ultimate tracker. The talk is now on its way to becoming a reality.

I found this form a little more organized and easier to view then scrolling from PCRT.
Form

More organized with access to all options.
View

Not sure if its possible but i would want it to automate pc virus cleanup. Basically login and perform auto tasks, im pretty sure there are already many options out there.

I am interested in having it integrated with social media to help repairs shops be more involved with customers plus if it updates on there page then the customers friends will notice and may generate leads

I enjoy this ticket view look and options and think of having a ticket view with those options as well as a work order view which is used for repair tracking, so basically help desk type and repair tracker funtionality
Help Desk

This design looks pretty
Pretty

I also want to take advantage of the cloud and integrate dropbox, not sure for which reason yet though

I considered task management options as well, i have recently used asana but have not gotten into it fully yet

I think having all tickets on the left side decreases the amount of visible room to work with, but in some cases its great that its there

I would probably have different themes be available which are basically looks, so the left side options would be perhaps HIDDEN to the left and when you moved the mouse over they came out and showed everything

As well as simply moving it to the top of the page and when you click each area it would then show everything in the list

Also important would be to have back and forward buttons

aside from gui i wanted an easier way to to financials for customer

right now in pcrt each work order has a separate invoice and deposit, but if a customer brings in 3 systems and each has a $30 deposit the customer would want a single $90 charge via cc so i manually put it into pcrt that the amount was $30 BUT when looking at the cc receipt it says $90 so i would want a quickbooks type invoicing system where it associates all the charges to a customer and if i take $90 it will bring the balance to 0 for all open invoices

i want to do that with but am not sure how i would then link the deposit to the charge because pcrt wins in this area where it shows that a deposit has actually been applied and you can search through deposits

repairshopr combines the invoices to show the total due for the customer BUT it does not allow you to take payments for all invoices so it still keeps the finances separate

May I suggest some of the solutions I use:

Zoho books (paid for $240py).
Invoicing quickbooks like accounting (I'm not a fan of quickbooks), timesheets, projects, banking integration (if you trust). I haven't explored much past teh invoicing, now projects or timesheets yet but they seem well integrated. Made my admin easier for invoicing. No problem applying payments against multiple invoices on a customer account.

SquareUp (2.35% if i recall)
For credit card payment or paypal if people insist. It doesn't integrate with Zoho, but Zoho does have its own payment provider for credit cards that does.

Spiceworks (free and wonderful, paid for with adverts in house side [tech eyes] only and actually unusually relevant)
Repair tracking/helpdesk/inventory management. hard to understate this. Very much worth a look. It has purchasing options i simply haven't explored. It may have features in teh repair ticket helpdesk sustem that loan themselves to invoicing as well.

Timesheet
Whilst mobile I use TimeSheet on Android devices. timesheet.rauscha.com. really impress with this wonderful app.

I have never seen PCRT so I simply can't state how it compares. but perhaps the above might be of interest to you.

Hope it helps.

I will take a look at it thanks

I dont know much about QB the only thing i was a fan of was the way it invoiced and took payments

For CC processors, integration would be dependant on the popularity of such
PCRT includes some processing as of now

I had our programming team make those changes but they said its most feasible to redesign the project or create something new because the code was very hard to work with.

They are right, and that is not because the code is hard to work with, it is because you want features from other software merged into one.
If I were you I would not bother with changing an existing software.

I would start a new one and use bits and pieces of the code from the other software (if I would have the legal right to do so).

Then there is the BIG problem you are facing. None of the 3 software packages you mentioned have exactly the same "business rules", I mean the way they work under the bonnet is different, their databases contain different tables and different fields, etc. IMHO is not feasible.

The topic of the post is to create a new software not modify existing

I might be mistaking, but you referred to programmers who were saying the existing code was hard to work with ?
Anyway, I wish you success with your enterprise.

if anybody has some graphical skills and wants to work with me to design a sample layout let me know then

Hey all - in RepairShopr you can click payment form and take a payment for the total amount someone owes, in your example, take a $90 payment on one of the $30 invoices - it will mark all 3 as paid like you expect
