First off let me say that I haven't done any website development since handwriting html back in highschool in the early 2000s, so basically im completely clueless and fumbling around to get things done. I started my site probably a year and a half ago now, with a handwritten site which was horrible (but fun to make), and quickly moved to wordpress.

Here's my website: http://nineyardscomputer.com

I am following @callthatgirl 's guide on SEO blogging and trying to get a better ranking and it seems to be working brilliantly. I started this week not even existing on Google unless you searched my name, now certain searches have me on the first page, one is even the second result! So major shout-out and thank you to Lisa for this ebook! Completely shocked that a newb like me could rank so high on google in under a week, and its all thanks to you.

Here's a link to one of my blog posts (posted on the third, and makes me the first result in google for "Virus Removal West Hartford")

One thing I'm reconsidering is changing the main site to not have separate sections for each types of repair I do, but have fewer sections like "Repair Services" "Small Business Support" "Remote Services" etc. I'm definitely more familiar with residential electronics repairs, but would like to push and pursue the more reliable and lucrative managed services, remote support, etc.

I also need to figure out what to do with the widgets at the bottom of the main site. They're just a couple links to the same thing you can find on the nav bar.

So, thoughts? Anything I could improve, either on the main site or in my blogging? TIA

One thing i do on my website is have a page for each service. Not sure if its better or not to seperate them but in my mind it makes it easier to do SEO. Alot harder to rank for multiple keywords on a one page site.

One thing i do with my site is use blog posts to talk about specific viruses or ransomware posts and then link these blog posts to my virus service page. Im getting calls galore with ransomware as im ranking locally with my keywords.

I'm not a fan of your alignment of text.
First thing I learnt in graphic/web design is "it is harder for your eye's to follow with centering text" and it is not as tidy as left align text as well.
You have a mixture of left and centered text.

It's very easy to add a contact form with WP. Again my opinion, but it looks more professional as well.

Your H1 tags. Are they being used properly? Use them on the major keywords you want for the search engines to pick up on.

Maybe add some testimonials on your front page.

You only need your contact info once on the contact us page.

Overall I like the simplicity of your site. I'm big on this as well.
Give the client want they want straight away, without confusing them.

Regards,

I made some changes to the alignment and I agree, it looks and reads much better without it centered. Thanks. Will update the rest today.

H1 is made according to Lisa's book, and include the service I'm blogging about, as well as the towns I'm targeting. If you have suggestions for more to add I'm open to hearing them.

I do plan to add a contact form on the site. Since I'm using repairshopr I will use theirs so it creates a ticket for me to respond to, but I don't have the paid tier of RS yet to have it.

I like it, less is more. Clients tell me all the time how much they like my old school site because everything they need is right there, no fluff. Even though I'm not a fan of pictures, yours are very nice and clean, so I say keep 'em!

I saw you on page 1 as well, great job!!! It's not science to do what I teach, just follow the book and depending on your location, you should rank higher soon or later. In big cities, it can take awhile of blogging and following the methods. I think in Minneapolis it took me about 6 weeks, I had a lot of competition though. But man, I worked those blogs DAILY LOL!

And for those who have advice on H1 and all that, I am no expert on it, all I know is what I teach works. Tested with many techs who have bought the eBook and myself of course and Davena who was my tester to make sure it worked before I released the eBook.
