Hey everyone, I was just wondering what kinds of business related conventions and seminars you have been to and would advise other people to attend. I really wanted to go on a business trip with a fellow tech and have a decent weekend out of WI but I don't really know of too many conventions/seminars. If anyone has anything let me know where they are and if you liked it! Thanks!

I was thinking the San Francisco tech-security conference, or maybe DEFCON. Anyone ever been to any seminar/convention/webinar that was helpful or fun?

DEFCON is definitely fun, I've been for the past 3 years, not directly aimed at this crowd but fun none the less.

Look for a local ISSA chapter.

If you've got kids hackid.org is moving to have a few more conference soon.

Check out SANS.org & the Microsoft & Intel sites.

Every tech, gadget freak, etc with any interest in technology should go to CES at least once. We had way too much fun last year. Did I mention It's in Vegas?

I would really like to make it to DEFCON or CES next year. Does anyone know since it pertains to our business in computer repair if they can be written off on taxes? I would imagine at least CES would be, not too sure about DEFCON though...

Well, CES is free if you register in time. As for writing the trip expenses, my accountant told me the entire trip, short of booze, can be written off.

Yeah I thought so, I already read up alot on tax write-offs so all the expenses for travel and lodging will be tax-deductible, but only 50% of food. So I guess stay at the Ritz, but eat at Wendy's! I can't make it to this years CES since I will be in Hawaii on my honeymoon...but I'm totally fine with that! I guess once it's over I need to go sign up onine for 2012!
