Computer Tech & IT Admin Tool Kit Version 0.1a

Sounds impressive and ambitious (in a good way). Will be keeping a close eye on this.

Keep in mind that the EULA of many tech tools do not allow you to repackage and rehost these tools. Thats why I pulled the Computer Repair Business Kit.

Thank you very much for the responses and answers to my questions. I really do appreciate what you're doing and applaud your efforts, good sir. I've never set up a server or hosted php, so I'm anxious to learn about all of that in good time. There's so much for me to learn before I even feel like I can really begin to call myself a newbie tech. It can feel overwhelming at times... in a good way. Excuse me while I go hit the books again. :)

Hmmm.. I made a mistake then. I assumed Freeware applications would not mind. I will have to research each individual EULA...

good catch Bryce.

Update to Version 0.2d

Uploading another version, nothing in terms of Major feature implementations as most of the work is behind the scenes. However! There are some interesting additions and news. As well as getting the Customer Database to read the Data files created from Work Orders (but its not utilizing the drop down menu yet) I like to upload a new build every day or every other day, so you guys know, progress is continuing.

The tough part now, with the data being written and read. Now I need to
make a parser. So that it knows how to make everything look nice. How to read certain variables, etc. Output them in a logical manner!

=========================
Changelog Version 0.2d
=========================

- Administration Area has Login / Register code and Network Logic. actually
works for a local machine. I have to draft up a SQLite or Mysql + php file to make it Work the was as Intended.

- Work Orders Save data in C:/Tech Center/~Customer Name~ Folders. Give it a try!

- Customer Database can read files in there respective places (unfortunately just the first work order you created as the DropDown list is not functional)

- Lots of code additions for future features
- Initial Parsing code finished. Right now just parses all data as commas.
- Removed Technibble Graphic loading as it seems to work (graphic loading from the web will be utilized for the Google Maps Query)

I don't think it works. I click Tools section and select a tool... nothing happens.
The new work orders, under 'Initial Diagnostic', I write info and press Enter, but nothing happens. I click 'Update Map', and nothing happens. Also, what is the Administration and how do you use it? What's the login info? Register says 'Server is Down'.
I'm confused or missed something somewhere. Are we supposed to be able to add our own tools and logo's to this?

Thank You for your effort Thus far.:)

Tested on Dell XPS M1710 Windows XP Admin account.

If you follow the Thread - the tool's construction has just started. nothing works as of yet. It is in the process.

Yep, Branding will be an implemented feature. right now im trying to get the features now, implemented and working.

suggestion

Hi All

Justin You have made a really good effort so far.
But i have to point out something to you.you see in the work order form you should add "Country" because there are members on Technibble who live outside the US(like me!i live in Pakistan...btw it is a scary place to be!:D)So we need the country thing instead of the state. You could add both of them!

Understood!
Looking good so far. Keep it up.:)
Sometimes I get ahead of myself.

Nice catch! It will be added in the next build.

No new builds until Sunday Afternoon. Working on Database / PHP stuff.. I hate it... I cant stand it.. so dry... so... very... boring.. BUT!

gotta be done.

Sorry for the long delay (4 days! OOOHHH!!!) Anywho, I am just wrapping up the core PHP / MYSQL communication through Unity.. Reminds me why I hate developing interactive websites. In any regards, Here is the feature list:

-Work Orders work AS INTENDED.
-CUSTOMER DATABASE WORKS!! WOOHOO
- Work Orders Completed / Pending Report numbers work (but its just a few numbers.. going to expand reports later)

Problem i am trying to overcome at the moment. Trying to write Pending / Previous Work Orders using Co-Routines and Arrays, as well as your regular ELSE / IF Statements as to WHAT data to pull from the entire database.. This is more of a problem with my lack of PHP Knowledge, and I have some Support Tickets out in Unity Answers / Forums. If I dont get a responsive, I can probally figure it out myself, but will take sometime. I will release the build in its current state if this is true. But if a fellow developer at least points me in the right direction, i'll wait on a build, and publish that at a future date:

Answers to typical questions in PMs:

Free / Open source? ----------- YES! I am going to set up a Git Hub site with source code / art assets for those who want to assist, tweak, or modify. It will of course be Free to all who want to host & Download.
=====HOWEVER======= I am going to scout around for either a good Dedicated Server Solution from Rackspace or somewhere else on the internet, with a redundant back up system. I will also do a "No Install Shop Edition" that is hosted on Private SQL Servers. I will maintain and host for $10 - 15 month for a sign up and go solution however that is way in the future. It will be geared towards those who do not want to mess with running a server themselves. Maybe an extra feature or two, like my cellphone number if something goes wrong. Again the idea is. the Shop Version needs to be good enough, with immediate support so that the shop will not have to worry about losing money.

I am also reviewing some EULA for included software. I know i can attach Hijack This / Clam AV (but i do not like Clam AV).. Only looked at a few so far.

To the Technibble Community,

Thank you for the compliments, and suggestions. Any PHP / MYSQL somewhat experienced individuals out there, who may have an hour of spare time in there week, please PM me! I will add you to program credits.

C# Developers are also more than welcome to PM me or post :)

Thanks everyone.

Sorry if I'm off thread here but, Bryce can't you still allow the kit to be downloaded with certain programs that are OK with it and allow users to add their own favorites.

I think all tech will benefit from this app. Large or small, this would be a great tool to have. I am more than willing to help. Please let me know how I may be able to.

Notes

I think the project your undertaking is a great idea. i was something i was going to have created as just a web based script that i was going to use for myself, that i never did. I did however find a script that came close to what i wanted, but is was designed for hosting web service. Try the Blesta demo out, to get some more ideas of possible functionality. Looking up clients gives a lot of information i have never seen in any other application.

For example, Blesta will
- client can have a status of active, inactive, or fraud.
- you can add notes to the clients profile
- you can add a contact to the clients profile (such as spouse or child, or employees if it is a business.) this feature would allow the client to authorize another person to pick up the computer.
- will auto send first, second, and third late notices based on # of days specified by you.
- will auto suspend the account based on # of days specified by you

I really wanted a web script running on my web hosting that kept track my business financial records and my clients really well. And i wanted to be able type up my invoices as needed with public and private notes, and track inventory (specifically my purchase price, selling price, and quantity). they would have added the inventory and the ability to turn off category tabs (like packages) for me for additional cost. but my business wasn't doing too well at that time to invest in at the moment.

Notes:
version 0.2d was labeled 0.2c
I think the icons are huge...
I couldn't get the work order to save within the program.
program was unable to connect to the because i can't sett proxy settings to bypass my companies internet restrictions.

I know the project is a big undertaking and i look forward to seeing the results.
