Comp database i created for the community

Hi guys

The other night i decided to throw together a small easy database to quickly track where im upto. Its probably too simple for some people but it does quite well for me for now. I can add the custs name and address, date comp came in and due date and then ive got space to write the problem or its current status so other employees can see where the custs pc is upto should they ring up.

This space was donated kindly by rhinetech. The comp analysis tool is also housed here. Any other quick useful progs for hte community ill try to put there.

Just to update you ive uploaded some new databases.

• Customer Database
• Parts Database
• Supplier Database

They are located at the link above and there is screen shots there to look before you download. There is a logo you can change to brand it to your business too.

ive updated again

You can now full screen the app however when you return to normal it will be slightly smaller. not a major prob to be honest you can still use it no probs. when you restart all is fine though.

Ive also added another slightly more info orientated customer database for those that want a little more. its also easier to edit and see. Again you can click on teh column to arrange etc... Its called customer database 2 (original i know lol)

Ive added a customisable database. its based on the database 2 (see the screenshot) and has a label.ini that you can change to amend the fields.

Petty suggestion: It's a pretty old habit to Tab one's way through forms. The Address box is last, after all the buttons. Any way to move it u the list so tabbing once from Name gets you there, keeping the forms sequential?

that is an awesome DB, though i'm curious how hard it would be to throw a charge amount box in there, with a checkbox for paid.

I was using an Excel file and was trying to create an Access database. But this is much easier.

Just tried running the update:

Line 8069 (File....)
Error: Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded.

The trial I'd done yesterday only had one entry. I'd delete the db but don't know where it's saved.

Ill check out that line tomorow. The database is saved in the same directory as the program. Should be called database.ini or dbase.ini cant rememver right now. You will need to start afresh delete the old ini file or run from an empty folder. Sorry forgot to mention that. If i add new fields then a new ini needs to b created so if theres anything else that needs adding before anyone uses it on mass then tell me asap lol

Thanks, this is very useful.

One thing I noticed, it doesn't seem like you can edit any of the fields from within the database. For example, if I wanted to update the current status.I am able to go directly in to the ini file and do it though.

Cant seem to resize the box, meaning it is hard to see/use the current status field.

Also, in relation to sizing, a few of the input box labels are cut off.

This isnt based on any database as such it just keeps a text file called database.ini in the same directory as the program. as i said its just simple.

I think ive had issues with high resolutions and my programs changing slightly so labels etc get slightly cut off. Im running at 1388 x 768 and it shows fine. i bet its 1 word of code im missing lol. ill look into it though.

would you do me a favour if you can try it on a lower resolution and make sure it works.

Ill change the layout so its a little more spread out but i left space in case people wanted things adding. i might add a pic box thats blank to start but if you put your logo in the directory with a certain name then it will add your logo to the database so its branded. what everyone think?

Hey guys

Just to let you know ive updated the database somewhat. ive spread out the labels etc to make it easier to read and look better on v high screen resolution.

Ive added in the ability to click on the column and have it sort alphabetically should you need to find someones name etc..

I will be uploading a spereate computer parts database as well. ill try upload tomorrow. they will be located in the same site as indicated in the first post.
