So I just signed up for this site( its free ), and it looks promising.
Its got a number of features, plus it can integrate in to your website.

I just thought it might be of some use.

I can never really see the point unless you need to book a lot and lot of jobs in. I thought about creating something like this, but at the end of the day I know I have to meet a friend at 3:00 or have a hospital appointment at 11 etc. I know when I am free, the last thing I would want to is enter into a database the exact hours I am free on a day and jobs over run etc.

you both have great points, I didn't think about that. My only thought was maybe it could be of some use to some one here who need it.

I dont see the point.

Historically, my customers have been loathe to book any services online. They ghenerally want to speak with me and get reassurances on cost and outcome when they book a service.

I dont like the idea of anything that intervenes between my site and that phone contact, as its the conversation that offers a launching point for (a) developing a relationship with them, and (b) selling them my services.

Just my 5c

When I had the computer repair store, I had a form for clients to set their own appointment. I can tell you honestly, not one person ever filled out that form. They always called. The reason I put it up to begin with, is because when I personally set appointments (with my car dealership for maintence for example), I always use the online form. Guess its just me :p

I think it's more a matter of: Most of our customers aren't that technical. When their main piece of technology breaks, they don't want to deal with more technology to get it fixed. They want to see a face and hear a voice. They want an element of reassurance that they won't get out of an online form.

I agree with this. It is definitley more re-assuring to speak to someone directly when your computer is not right. I think that can be said for most things.

more convenient when their pc don't work :)
Yes, I considered that. Even when it was an issue that was not affecting their internet directly (such as a sale or call for an upgrade) they took the same exact route.

I can't do online booking forms either, not with how crazy our appts go with over the phone.

I do have a book appointments form on my website and we get many bookings a day, but not on a calendar. I have staff that watches that inbox and we email people as fast as we can to get them in that day.
