I am peforming a tune-up on a business clients pc, everthing is going well however i am unable to uninstall sbc yahoo applications.

I have tried uninstalling from the add or remove programs but it just freezes. I have also tried the uninstall feature from within the program but that doesn't work either.

The customer doesn't have the install cd anymore so i cant do the reinstall then uninstall trick and I cant find the software on the net.

Any ideas? This is not critical to the tune-up it just bugs the crap out of me.

Thanks

I did try to remove it in safe mode but to no avail. It doesnt affect the computers performance and i put alot of time into removing it, so i think i will have to give up on this one.

There is the dirty method of removing the program files and registry entries. If you're lucky all the programs dll's are in the programs folder and not scatters around the drive. Perhaps a good registry cleaner. Probably not a bad idea to do a registry backup and a restore point I'd guess, perhaps even a quick image since it's a business client. Then again if it's not causing issues and time is money, just disable and leave it until they upgrade there stuff and need a new OS. It's things like this that I take personally ;). I looked for a forceful way to uninstall programs but the only things I could find was either the manual way I mentioned above, or things like Revo uninstaller that wait until the program finishes up and then scans for the goodies. There is a Microsoft cleaner out there that may help, but from what I read it doesn't do quite as good a job, but may actually do SOMETHING. Perhaps you can run the program and make note of any dll's it loads from say the windows folder if that's where it placed them. Then a file delete and registry search might help you out. Followed up with the mention reg cleaner, and as far as I see that's really all revo does every time I use it.

A bit late, but... I've found that the shredder application in Glary Utilities is great. Clean? No. Get's the job done? Yes. Shred the program file folder and then clean up afterwards with the registry cleaner and reg defrager that's also included in the application.

For this very reason I use Your Uninstaller Pro.

If a programs uninstaller is corrupt, and Add/Remove Programs doesn't work, then Your Uninstaller has a 'Force Remove' option, as well as the usual registry cleaning and file deletion from program folder.

Never had a problem with it. Highly recommended! :D

Isn't shredding for destroying private and sensitive data, like those saved chats with your mistress?
