Can't Clean this Computer!

Well, where to begin...the normal boot up of the system is clogged with viruses and spyware, so I have been attempting to clean it in safe mode using Malwarebytes, Adaware, Super Antispyware, Avast!, and a few other scanners. If the program is installed into the computer, I can open it and attempt a virus scan. But a few seconds into the scan it will close on it's own. If it is a scanner booting from my flash drive, it will close automatically after a process called pump.exe runs for a second.
I have attempted to run my UBCD and my other environments...the computer looks like it's attempting to load the CD (in a CD drive) but then carries along like there's nothing in there worth looking at and continues booting on the rest of the machine.
Upon running Hijack This! in safe mode only, of course, resulted in the closing of itself after it managed to produce a list for a second.
Any suggestions?

It's not that difficult to remove but it's too late after a hard days work to explain. Roger over at freefix has listed it in his database; go here http://www.freefixer.com/library/file/43627/ download and run. joydivision's quite right it modifies a lot of other exes and will eventually download ransomware. I know this sounds silly but have you tried system restore? ;)

Some more info for you on pump.exe lifted directly from threatexpert:

The file "pump.exe" is known to be created under the following filenames:
%AppData%\dv6173880x\yesbron.com
%System%\desot.exe
%System%\n7533\smss.exe
%System%\pump.exe
%Temp%\pump.exe
%Windir%\o4442927.exe
c:\resycled\ntldr.com
c:\the-last-good-night103.exe
Notes:

* %AppData% is a variable that refers to the file system directory that serves as a common repository for application-specific data. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data.
* %System% is a variable that refers to the System folder. By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\Winnt\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
* %Temp% is a variable that refers to the temporary folder in the short path form. By default, this is C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp\ (Windows NT/2000/XP).
* %Windir% is a variable that refers to the Windows installation folder. By default, this is C:\Windows or C:\Winnt.

Haha. I attempted using system restore, nothing. Nothing saved.
And I am considering avoiding the hard drive removal task seeing that the makers of this computer have almost made it impossible to take the hard drive out. Looks like tomorrow I'll make some time to save what I can that the owners consider valuable and then do a fresh install. Still open to suggestions though. Thank you all for your help thus far. :D

And I'll give freefix a go in safe mode now...

What make and model is the laptop? Usually the drives aren't to difficult to remove. By the way, what part of NJ are you from?

It too, closed by itself upon scanning.

It's a tower, the hard drive is in there pretty well...I've been attempting to remove it for 10 minutes :p

Jersey shore; Toms River to be precise. :o

Yeah, some of them can be a pain. I'm down here right outside of Avalon in Cape May County. I used to travel to Tom's River for soccer games. I believe your up close to exit 90 on the parkway.

I have, the computer refuses to boot anything from CD. Believe me - if I could I would be finished with the problem by now if I could UBCD4win...

Have you tried using a different CD drive, maybe the one in the machine is just dead or dying. Assuming you have a spare lying around.
