I have a residential client with a canon imagerunner 634c multi function printer. She is running Windows 10
The printer is connected to the network wirelessly.

When I set up a new device the printer installs and printers with no problems. However I can not set up the scanner. The canon software will not find the scanner.
I have uninstalled
Reboot
Reinstalled
Turned off the firewall
I have also connected the device to the network via an Ethernet cable.
The printer installs without a problem
I can not The the canon software to install as a scanner. The software will not the device.
Any suggestions ? Thanks

Disabling anti virus didn’t work
I also took the printer and laptop back to my office. So on a different network I still can’t connect the scanner

Check page 83 of the user's guide on the Canon website. It appears that device requires additional configuration/settings tweaks to scan in any way but by usb.

Assuming that's a MF634Cdw.

mf632cdw is the only driver I could find off hand with the 632c, just a off the bat question maybe the scanner has issues can you use the photocopy mode (if any on the device) I had the pleasure once having a stuck scanner head so windows had totally refused to install it until I got mad and did the plumber's method onto it (bashed the side not recommended but client was ready to just get another one) and it started working flawlessly.

I did some Googling when Win 10 was force-fed to us and wrote down these notes. I can't recall the author but it worked.

Same deal. Printed fine but no scan functionality.

The Canon MF Scan Utility will not work in an IPv6 environment. Use IPv4 or USB.

This worked for me:

Call up the properties for the Windows Image Acquisition service.

Ensure the service is set to automatic on the general tab.

Go to the log on tab and check both local system account and allow service to interact with desktop.

Go to the recovery tab and change the first failure from take no action to restart the service.

I got it to work
I uninstalled the drivers using a canon uninstall tool
reboot
Re-installed the drivers
connected the printer via wifi
then used the canon scanner utility to search for the scanner
once it found it, I had to uncheck the device the in list of found devices
then check it again
then on the printer go into scan mode
let it find the computer
then back on the computer finish installing the scanner

Crazy steps but it worked.
PS - I did not come up with that solution I found it posted online followed the steps and it did work
