A great site I found is easyvmx.com

You can set all the parameters for a virtual machine and it will spit out the files you need, then install your chosen OS. A lot better than manually editing the files.

The VMWare player can be downloaded free from here vmware.com/products/player/

Have fun !!!!

Interesting, checking it out for sure. Thanks.

Instead of the limited VMWare Player, or the costly VMWare Workstation, or even the free VMWare Server (which sucks now that they moved from the GUI to the web-interface.)

Why not use VirtualBox? Its all I use now. Works great and does everything I need and of course is free.

+1 gave up on vmware a while ago just too much hassle compared to the simplicity of VirtualBox which sofar has handled everything we have thrown at it.

I am using both VMWare and Virtual Box.
Virtual Box has the nice feature of being free, however I has problems with it getting corrupted out of the blue - and you can't copy-paste rich text...
