Can't you just remove the CMOS battery and plug it back in?

Or

There are backdoor passwords for BIOS's; do a google search for them.

And also; dealing with stolen laptops, and re-selling them to make a bit of cash on the side; can damage your reputation.

i resell em to friends and fam.
They dont really care.

I never sell actual clients stolen stuff.

My aunt needs a laptop for my cousin and im sure a friend will buy the other...i just gotta get em fixed.

I know that for a fact that with Dell business laptops you cannot easily reset the bios password unless you are a verified owner of the laptop and you call Dell, or you go through a process of short circuiting the motherboard which may or may not work. Not sure about the consumer line, never had to do it. Other than the above method, there is always the old brute force method, which probably isn't worth the time it might take.

I thought this forum was about the discussion of legitimate computer issues....not helping someone figure out ways of reselling stolen equipment.

Someone delete this crap before the reputation of the site goes to ****....

Besides, if he dose not know how to do something as simple as clearing a bios password....he shouldn't be working on other "client's" equipment to start with

If it were me, I would try do some data recovery on the laptops to find out who the original owner was, contact them, and let them know how you got the laptop.

I did that with a laptop I thought was stolen, found out the original owner was a lawyer, contacted the police then the lawyer and the lawyer gave me a reward equal to the amount I paid for the laptop plus he paid me to recover the data off of it and restore the laptop.

That's some good karma right there. :D

Thats Fine Delete the post.

Ill take the loss.

Ill figure this out on my own.
Theres been many other posts about bios passwords here. They all beat around the bush and say.."well i forgot it or umm idk what happened." IM TELLING YOU STRAIGHT UP. Im learning as i go, all of you say experience is key riight?

Thank You for your input. The Loss of $100 will teach me not to buy stolen equipment. It could have been way worse, maybe cops or something.

People get shot for shot for stuff like this where im from. Ill just use them as paper weights till i figure it out.

I am surprised that a businessman would traffic in stolen merchandise. Your business must be more of a hobby.

I started out a in january, im working out of home. Its actually going pretty well, i know alot of people so it picked up fast. I feel bad now, i never really thought about it. I just saw the cash. This could really **** me up in the long run.

Where'd u buy the laptop, MacArthur Park? LoL...Damn, you won't get that joke unless you live in Los Angeles. Oh well. Inside joke for us Angelenos, I guess. :)
