What would be the best safest free encryption software for windows 10 home?
Far as i can tell 4 of the ones i know don't work with windows 10 after looking at what they support.

I researched this a while ago for a customer who had W8 Home, so no Bitlocker. The problem is not so much which version of Windoze but how the drive is partitioned and formatted. The standard free tools,Truecrypt and it's subsequent forks still do not support GUID/GPT/UEFI in Windoze. I don't trust any of the other free FDE's. The only solution is to do a image backup, repartition and format the drive as MBR, and restore the image. If the motherboard is UEFI you have to disable secure boot to do this. If the motherboard is regular BIOS nothing to worry about. I just checked Veracrypt and it supports W10 MBR.

I would be careful with TrueCrypt. Since it was discontinued we have been forced to remove it from several clients to maintain security compliance.

We now use Symantec Endpoint Encryption. It's not free but works great with minimal performance hit.

If "Free" is an absolute requirement, you can look at VeraCrypt - it's actively developed, descended from TrueCrypt, will work on 64-bit Windows (which has some driver signing requirements), etc. It will work only with BIOS-based systems, not with UEFI/GPT.

Personally, I'd be just as inclined to go for what may end up being the lower-cost option: buy a Pro upgrade and use Bitlocker.
