Backup for a challenged end user

I'm looking for an easy, cost effective solution to a client who is very challenged IT wise. The situation is that she has a netbook she uses on stage(she's a singer professionally) and a tower she has in her home. She hasn't got a backup solution at present and an online solution not in the equation. Basically I need an external drive and software that will install on both computers and backup predefined folders when the drive is plugged in. The files are mainly songs and videos so a fair amount of data. She bought an external drive that came with no software for backing up(it's being returned) and when I explained about how to back up she went white . So any ideas about a drive and software to use?

Of course the obvious elegant solution is iCloud.
But if that is not an option for her than take a look at CrashPlan. It will automatically back up to any local device, her desktop obviously and her netbook when she is connected to her home network. It is also able to back up to their cloud service as well (for a fee).

I have used sync back and gene-soft for residential clients, not sure about their EULA for this though. Just set it up once and it keeps on backing up, gene-soft has a handy notice bar that tells you how out of sync you are.

Even worse...they're probably models paid for that gig. I know my %dayjob% employ a marketing company that hires local kids to model for our website just like that.

Typical stereotyping its Linux so the guy must look like he never washes or sees daylight, the Mac guy looks like a creative type (coz all Mac guys are creative right) and the Windows girl looks like she spends all her life on Facebook. I just did what I abhor and became stereotypicalist...
